Short A/N:
Time skip to after the two episodes of Broken Dreams and The Ultimate Duel. The only TV specials I'll do are the Christmas ones, and that's it, so it'll be less confusing for you guys. I will start doing song of the chapter on certain chapters for extra effect. The song for this chapter is The Only Exception by Paramore. You'll see why after you read it, but listen to the song while reading.********************************************************************************************************************************************************
"Hey, Ashlynn, could we have our date tomorrow night?" Jayden started stammering again. "If... If that's... If thats okay... With you."
"Yeah."
"Great, so 6 tomorrow night?"
"That's fine." I nodded and he walked away.
Ever since he fought and defeated Deker, he was less uptight. It was nice to see confidence in him for once, but he still was nervous around me.
After Jayden had walked away, Mia and Emily swarmed me with questions.
"You guys are everywhere. Seriously. Everywhere." I shook my head and laughed.
Antonio walked in. "So, Ms. Ashlynn is finally growing up."
I rolled my eyes. "I've been on dates before, Tony."
"Ah, come on, we both know Pyro wasn't right for you." He patted my shoulder. "At least I see some chemistry."
"Oh! Antonio, I need to tell you something!" Mia said, and whispered a few things in Antonio's ear.
"Fantastico! I'll let the others know, except for Jayden." Antonio winked, and walked away.
I facepalmed. "Don't torture him tomorrow, please."
With a glint in her eye, Emily smirked and said, "You'll see soon enough."

I should have known what I was getting into.
My room had turned into a department store dressing room. Random outfits were strewn everywhere. My hair was done and I only put on a touch of make up, but the clothes part, I didn't want to go through. So I just selected a red hoodie, jeans, red flats, and a white blouse.
"That's perfect. Jayden's wearing his usual plaid shirt with a grey undershirt, jeans and his usual shoes." Mia said, taking a photo of me with her phone and sending it to Kevin.
"Poor guy." Emily said. "But I really wish I could have this experience with Mike."
"No spying, please." I ordered, and for a second they consider it, or at least pretend to.
"NOPE!" They yelled in unison, and I groaned.
"I hate you guys."
"You love us!" Mia retorted. "Now go. Its 6. He's waiting outside, near the training area."
Here goes.
I step out of the room and walk outside.
He's there. Picnic basket in on hand.
He looks genuinely surprised when I step out. He let a breath out.
"You look amazing." He tried to smile, but I could tell he's completely nervous. I blushed at the words. I'm not exactly confident at the moment but I'm not as nervous as the boy in front of me is.
"Let's go." I nodded, and we disappeared into the darkness.
The tension was so thick, and the only knife that could cut it was words. Meaning we'd have to talk. I didn't want to do it just yet, afraid I'd embarrass myself. So neither of us talked on the way there.
"Let's play a game of getting to know each other better." I suggested once we got to the beach, and he agreed.
"How did you get your wings? I mean one day you're not using them, and the next you are." He asked.
"They just kind of came out. I guess they've always been there but I didn't notice. You were out at battle when I did find out, and I never really told anyone." I shrugged. "Favorite book?" I asked, deciding to go with the classic questions.
"I'm not normal." He shook his head. "All I read was from the archives. What's Xavier's school like?"
"Very dangerous. We have to act normal. We're basically trained to control our powers and use them for good, not evil." I looked down at my fingers, and they were intertwining with each other. "What was growing up with Tony like?"
"He was the only person who made me feel normal. He was my first friend." He shrugged. "Did you really meet the Avengers?"
"Yes, I did. Logan and Captain America are veterans from the war. After the war, Logan was tested on for a few years and got adamantium in his skeleton. That's why he looks so young."
We keep going back and forth answering the questions. Suddenly dinner and dessert is over (sushi and fruit, naturally) and we're next to each other, watching the sea. My head is on his shoulder, and for once, he's not tense, and I know he likes it. His arm is draped around my shoulders. We're both relaxed. We suddenly grow quiet, enjoying each other's company.
"Ashlynn?" He asked quietly.
"Yeah?" I returned, as quiet as he was.
"I know this is just our first date... But I really like you." He said, and looked down at me. My heart fluttered. "Even though you're the first girl I've went on a date with... I really like you, and it was fun. Do you-"
"I can tell you I return those feelings generously." I looked back up at him. For a moment our eyes meet.
I'm falling. Deeper and deeper into the pit called heart-wrenching love. I don't want to. No. No. No.
Loving him was like trying to change your mind once you're already flying through the free fall.
"Thank you, Ash." He whispered. "Would you consider another date, sometime soon?"
"I'd like that." I said, almost catching myself. I wanted to say I'd love that, but I didn't want to sound too pushy.
"We should go, it's late." He started to get up.
"No, stay." I begged, and that sounded so clingy, but it just kind of... slipped out of my mouth. I was afraid to fall, but I already was. Instead, he chuckled and sat back down.
"Only for a few minutes, and then we go." He said, then returns to his earlier position.
I know that when I get back, I'll be hit with questions going 100 miles an hour. And so will Jayden.
But right now, I don't want to think about anyone else.
Right now, I just want to be with the only person who's made me fall: Jayden.
