Jenny and Molly watched as Sam and Dean dug a grave for Mrs. Greeley, Jenny's arms crossed just below her stomach as if she were having a bad cramp.
"You alright?" Molly asked, frowning at the woman. Jenny nodded, taking a side step away from Molly.
"Yeah. I'm fine." She lied, Dean pausing to give Jenny a worried glance. Jenny gave him a reassuring nod, gesturing to Molly, who started to talk.
"So... So, if you manage to put Greeley to rest, too... What happens to them?" She asked, and Dean laughed, slamming his shovel into the dirt.
"Lady, that answer is way beyond our pay grade."
"We don't get paid, Dean." Jenny argued, to which Dean sighed loudly.
"You hunt these things, but you don't know what happens to them?" Molly asked, frowning. Jenny hummed in thought, turning to her.
"Well, depending on if the ghost was a bad person when they were alive, they're probably rotting in hell. If not... I don't know where they are."
"They never come back. That's all that matters." Dean commented, digging more. Molly nodded solemnly, looking away.
"After they let go of whatever's keeping them here, they ... they just go. I hope someplace better, but we don't know. No one does." Sam spoke, which seemed to please Molly just a little bit.
"What happens when you burn their bones?"
"Umm... Well, my dad used to say that was like death for ghosts, you know? But... The truth is, we still don't know. Not for sure." Sam looked to Dean, then to Jenny, who shrugged. "Guess that's why we all hold on to life so hard. Even the dead. We're all just scared of the unknown."
"The only thing I'm scared of is losing David. I have to see him again." There was a long pause before Molly continued. "I have to."
Jenny looked at Sam and Dean, knowing that it was better if she didn't tell Molly the truth in this moment.
———
Sam, Dean and Jenny all stood in a room together in the cabin, Molly in another room pacing back and forth. Dean was sitting on a chair, Jenny rocking back and forth behind him.
Sam sighed quietly, watching Molly for a moment before turning back to his brother and friend. "I think we should tell her about her husband."
"We can't." Dean shook his head, Jenny crossing her arms again.
"Not yet. But we have to soon."
"Jenny's right. It's cruel, letting her pine for him like this. I don't like keeping her in the dark." Sam argued quietly, and Dean stood up.
"It's for her own good. Man, I know you guys feel guilty, all right? But let's just stick to the plan. Let's get her out of here. Then we'll tell her." Sam was quiet for a moment before he nodded. Molly reentered the room, a frown on her face.
"Tell me what? What aren't you telling me? It's about David. You know what happened to him." Molly snapped. Jenny's brows rose as she glanced between Sam and Dean, who both looked to her.
"We can't." She grumbled. Molly gave her an angry look
"Can't what? Can't tell me because I'll mess up your hunt? You don't care about me or my husband."
"That's not true." Sam deflected, turning towards her.
"Really? Then whatever it is, tell me, please." Sam stayed quiet, swallowing down his words as he knew Dean would shut him down. The radio nearby suddenly turned on, 'House of the Rising Sun' beginning to play. "He's coming."
