forgive me for robbing you

Jenny stood a few inches away from Jo, who was sitting at the dining table flipping a knife around in her hand. A map was displayed in front of the blonde, Sam and Dean talking quietly to themselves for a moment before Jo spoke.

"This place was built in 1924. It was originally a warehouse, converted into apartments a few months ago." Jo explained as Jenny sat down across from her, looking at the map.

"Yeah? What was here before 1924?" Jo shook her head at Dean's question.

"Nothing. Empty field."

"So, most likely scenario, someone died bloody in the building, and now he's back and raising hell."

"I already checked. In the past eighty two years, zero violent deaths. Unless you count a janitor who slipped on a wet floor." Jo spoke, still flipping her knife. Jenny watched quietly in annoyance, her arms crossed.

"What about police reports? Anything dating back to even while this town was being built?" Jenny raised her brows, watching as Jo pressed her lips together.

"I read Obituaries, mortuary reports and seven other sources. Nothing that far, though... But I know what I'm doing." Jo reassured. Jenny was still skeptical.

"I think the jury's still out on that one— Could you put the knife down?" Dean snapped quietly to Jo, who set her knife down.

"Okay! So, uh, it's something else, then. Maybe some kind of cursed object that brought a spirit with it?" Sam suggested as Jenny nodded. Sam, Dean and Jenny stood up, getting ready to leave.

"Could be. Remember the Hook Man case we took on last year? Maybe we are dealing with something like that again." Jenny thought, and Jo's eyes widened in excitement. "But I wouldn't bet money on—"

"Wait, the Hook Man was real?" The three older Hunters looked at Jo, seeming to answer her with a silent look. After an awkward silence, Ho cleared her throat. "Well, we've got to scan the whole building. Everywhere we can get to, right?"

"Right. So. Jen and I, we'll take the top two floors." Dean gestured to Jenny, who nodded. He turned back to Jo. "You and Sam can take the bottom two."

"We'd move faster if we split up." Jo suggested and Jenny let out a snort, swiping at her nose. Jo frowned. "What?"

"Oh nothing. Just that usually, splitting up is how you get dead. Have you seen any clique horror movie ever?" Jo turned away in embarrassment as Dean rolled his eyes.

...

"You should have told Ellen the truth." Jenny spoke quietly as she and Dean walked down the dimly lit hallway, EMF readers in their hands.

"Yeah yeah I'm aware of that now." He grumbled, glancing to her. "But it's like she's a stick up your ass, Jen."

"You do realize she's using herself as bait, right?" Jenny asked, and Dean looked away for a moment, thinking.

"Oh... Ellen is going to kill us." He mumbled, and Jenny pressed her lips together in a thin, forced smile, nodding.

"Yep. Which means, if Ellen finds out Jo not only went on this case with us, but used herself as bait, we're actually going to be burned at the stake." Dean grimaced at the thought of a painful death, shaking his head. "So we should probably find this spirit before Sam and Jo do."

"I like your idea better." Jenny paused for a moment, frowning.

"What the hell were you thinking?" Dean stood up a little straighter, digging through his pocket before pulling out a box of hair bleach. Jenny's eyes widened. "Are you kidding me?! I know I've been bait before but that was willingly, Dean Winchester!"
