"What do you want, Shiv?" Dejal asked when they were alone.

"Where is he from?" Shiv asked and watched Marco intensely.

"Right now, you don't need to know more than that he is from a planet we haven't explored yet," Dejal said. "Humans are the most intelligent creatures on their planet that we know of."

"If I have to train this little treasure, I need to be able to touch him."

"You can of course touch him but not in any sexual way or any way he doesn't want you to. I am his guard, and I will punish whoever does something like that to him. Even you, old friend."

Shiv stepped closer and in a fast motion grabbed Marco's chin.

"Not very fast, I see," Shiv said as Marco moved back from the hand but was too slow and got caught in his grip.

"Do not hurt him," Dejal said and looked threateningly into Shiv's eyes.

"If I have to train him the way I do to my other students I would have to hurt him just like the others, Dejal."

"Not as harshly as the others, is that clear, Shiv?"

"Yes," Shiv said and locked their eyes. "Dekka." Shiv turned to leave.

"Shiv!" Dejal called and Shiv turned to him. "I am not your Dekka. We are even. Know your own and others' rank, Shiv."

"Yes, Dejal," Shiv said and left.

"What was that about?" Marco asked when Shiv had left. When there had been others here and when he had been inside the box, they had seemed so friendly to each other. Now their voices were cold and threatening.

"Don't worry about it," Dejal said. He turned to him and smiled. "Can I show you around?"

"Yes," Marco said, wanting to see more of this place.

Dejal led him out of the tent. The tent looked like a house. It had walls, rooms, and a roof but no floor.

When they reached the opening of the tent Marco realized it was some sort of training camp.

He saw cannarrians train and fight. They were all fast, heavy, and strong.

Dejal showed Marco around and told him where things were. Such as where equipment for training was and where he had to live and where others lived.

As Marco was led around everywhere he looked, someone was there. Everyone was looking at him and whispering to the one they stood next to. Marco wasn't sure if he felt good or bad about it. He felt special in a good way but also a target. He really wanted that lube back, but he had nowhere to hide it on him.

"As you have probably already guessed, Marco," Dejal said, "then this is where cannarrians become warriors. It's a camp where they train to become warriors."

They stood at the edge of the camp. Dejal pointed in a direction where Marco could see buildings.

"Over there is a city you can go to if you want, but please... wherever you go, also in this camp, watch out. They will all see you as an easy target. Especially because you are small compared to us and because you are something no one has ever seen before."
