"What are you doing!?" Noah hissed at Aitan. They were in their room. Aitan was preparing to finally join the battle.

"Helping my people," Aitan let out as he made sure his armor was ready for battle.

"Are you planning on killing yourself!?" Noah hissed and tried to get Aitan's attention when he kept staring and fumbling around with his armor. "Is that your big plan now? Just because you can't have children your life ends now!?"

"What else is the purpose of my life?" Aitan let out firmly and pulled his hand away which Noah had grabbed.

"The purpose of your life does not have to be getting children!" Noah whined.

"What is my purpose then!?" Aitan barked. "Reproducing is what all living creatures are made to do. And I can't do that, Noah! The least I can do is die fighting for a better world."

"No!" Noah let out and grabbed onto Aitan again when he tried to move away.

"I will not discuss this any further," Aitan hissed and pushed Noah away.

"I will!" Noah yelled and ran in front of Aitan to block his way out. "Reproduction is our biological purpose of life! Relations with other people are what give us meaning. That is our purpose! Going out there now tells me that you don't give a fuck about me! Or Bewo. Or Marco. Or any other cannarrian and ponnarrian. You will waste yourself. There is still so much good in you. There is still so much you need to see and experience. You can't go. I won't let you!"

"Unluckily for you," Aitan growled and pushed Noah to the side to get to the door. "No one can tell me what to do. My words are law now."

"You are an idiot!" Noah yelled as the door slid open.

Aitan didn't say anything. He turned away to hide his shame.

Noah felt betrayed when the doors closed and he was alone. He felt angry and sad. He didn't want to lose Aitan. Not anymore.

He ran to the door and slammed on it, knowing Aitan was out there. Noah knew he could hear him.

"Come back!" Noah yelled. "You are a fool! You are going to get yourself killed! Aitan! Let me out!"

Aitan felt his throat tighten at Noah's cries. But Aitan saw no other way. For him, this was his only purpose now. He was going to fight like the rest. Maybe this was how the commanders operated and thought back then when they made the rules of Cannarrah and Ponnarrah... Take away the warriors' hopes of ever seeing a female or male again and they will be more than willing to die fighting. Everyone knew that they couldn't go back before the war ends. It will drive them mad and it will make them dangerous for the enemies. Only in the worst cases will it make them hostile to their own people.

"Where can I join the battle?" Aitan asked firmly.

Qhuwat was standing before him. Three other male commanders were there too. Orleth was there and another female commander.
