Noah was still sleeping when Marco settled on one of their tables.

They had covered Noah with a blanket.

Hevero lifted slightly up Marco's shirt. He pulled his pants down a bit and said that was enough.

Hevero grabbed a few devices and put them on Marco's visible skin.

"No needles, please," Marco mumbled when Hevero was looking for something a few steps away from him.

"Don't worry..." Hevero said but was hesitant.

"Is everything as it should be?" Levaija asked when Hevero came back.

"I'm not sure..." Hevero let out and placed the device on Marco.

Am I pregnant!? Marco suddenly thought.

Hevero could feel the panic in Marco's body.

"Relax, Marco," Hevero said and kept going. "I can't do this if you move around."

"Is it a child!?" Marco yelled in a whisper.

"No. No-no, of course not," Hevero said. "It's just that... Your body accepts fast. The womb, the eggs. Everything is there and functioning. Almost. I would advise you to use protection from now on but the eggs can't really be fertilized yet. But just in case."

That calmed the human a lot. Levaija felt panic at the way Marco had panicked.

They both calmed.

A few more minutes passed.

In conclusion, Marco would soon be able to carry offspring. But Hevero wanted there to go at least half a year before they should actually try to have a child. Hevero advised them to wait a year as planned from the start.

"Everything we have planted in you works better than expected," Hevero said. "The womb, the eggs, the device with medicine... everything works. It's honestly a miracle. We need more of those when war is threatening us."

Marco was happy that everything was good. Hevero didn't need to cut him open to adjust something within him. He could just keep doing what he does.

The human asked about the affair he had with Bewo just before arriving on Cannarrah.

Hevero didn't do much about it. He was sure that Marco's eggs wouldn't have combined with Bewo's seed.

The chance of a child was too small at the moment and warriors were coming wounded in.

Hevero had to take care of those quickly.

Marco didn't like the flashbacks the wounded that came in gave him.

The blood and the groans of pain made Marco completely quiet.

Memories of the battle he had fought in the military haunted him.

Marco stayed close to Noah. He was guarding him when no one was with them.
