Chapter 40 : Kim Jae's side story (4)

Jae runs his finger along the curve of Hyunsuk's jaw, watching as his eyes flutter close for a moment. He let out a small laugh each time Hyunsuk react to his touch.

"Babe," he whispers near Hyunsuk's ear, trying to wake up Hyunsuk. The other grumbles sleepily, rubbing his eyes with the heel of his palm. Hyunsuk blinks open his eyes and looks at Jae with the most adoring gaze he has ever seen. Jae smiles softly when Hyunsuk finally opens his eyes. He then rubs a thumb over Hyunsuk's cheek tenderly before kissing him softly on the lips.

"Good morning," he said in between kisses. Hyunsuk just hums in response. Jae smiles down at him before pressing another kiss to Hyunsuk's forehead.

"I already prepared breakfast for us," he says after pulling away from Hyunsuk.  Jae could see the smile spread across Hyunsuk's face. Hyunsuk nods slowly as he sits up in bed. Jae then walks ahead and makes his way toward the kitchen, humming the tune of an old song that plays in the background.

Hyunsuk follows Jae into the kitchen shortly after. Jae turns around and leans on the counter, still smiling as he watches Hyunsuk who's still drowsy as he sits there, rubbing his eyes. Hyunsuk yawns, leaning onto one arm.

"Still sleepy much, huh?" asks Jae fondly while he sets their plates down on the table. Hyunsuk just nods while grinning sheepishly at Jae. Jae laughs and ruffles Hyunsuk's hair playfully. Hyunsuk giggles and moves his head back.

Jae chuckles and sits down at the seat opposite Hyunsuk, taking a bite off of his toast. His eyes focused on the smaller one who sit across from him. Hyunsuk was playing with his food absentmindedly, poking his eggs around. When he notices Jae looking at him, he blushes and looks away from Jae.

A little confused by his shyness, Jae lets out a small chuckle. He picks up Hyunsuk's hand and presses a soft kiss on the back of it. Hyunsuk blushes harder but smiles gently and squeezes Jae's fingers. Jae smiles warmly at his boyfriend before turning back to finish eating.

"Hyung, please let me wash these dishes in peace," Hyunsuk said as he held up the glass plate with the soapy sponge.

"You just do your stuff," Jae retorted, while his arms are tightly wrapped around the slender body of his fiance. He keeps snuggling up on him while kissing his neck.
"Hyung, come on," Hyunsuk pleaded while crooking his neck to the side. The tickling sensation makes his stomach turn and he tries to squirm away from him.

Unable to hold the urge anymore, Hyunsuk turns his body around, face to face with the taller. He glared at Jae, who was smiling back at him. "What is it, babe? Wanna kiss?" Jae asked teasingly.  He then leans in closer, making their lips almost touch.

Before their lips touched together, Hyunsuk swiftly covers Jae's lips using his hand, preventing him from kissing him.

Jae looks at him with an offended glare. "What is this behavior, soon to be Kim Hyunsuk?" Jae asks his mouth still muffled by Hyunsuk's hand.

"You're strangely clingy today. Do you hide anything from me?"  Hyunsuk asked in a low voice, trying to sound intimidating, but it does not work on Jae. Instead, Jae laughs out loud at what Hyunsuk had said.

"That is ridiculous! You know very well that I'm clingy every day!"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever, but don't you say you have somewhere else to go today? Aren't you gonna be late?" asks Hyunsuk, pulling his hand back from Jae's lips.
Jae sighs heavily and slumps his head onto Hyunsuk's shoulder.

"Ah, yeah but I'm lazy. Should I just stay at home and cuddle with you?"  Jae mumbles cutely into Hyunsuk's hair. His breath hitting his nape sent shivers down his spine. Hyunsuk brings his hand to Jae's back and embraces him tight.
He smiles slightly because of how cute Jae was when he is needy for affection. "Hmm you don't have to go if you don't want to," he says softly. He doesn't even realize he has been playing with Jae's hair.

"But I have to go. It said that I could gather more information for the article I worked on," Jae said, still clinging to Hyunsuk.

Hyunsuk hummed in response and continues to play with Jae's hair. "I'll go if you told me to," said Jae. He lifts his head and looks at Hyunsuk. Hyunsuk seems to ponder over Jae's offer. He then looks at Jae's face. "It'll be done after this right? If I stopped you, doesn't that make your efforts before is wasteful? You work on that article for so long," Hyunsuk reasons out. Jae smiles as he hears what Hyunsuk said. Happy that the latter care about his work.

"If that is so, I'll go," Jae answered with a smile on his face. Hyunsuk's face was plastered with a smile too.

Hyunsuk just standing by the door frame as he watches Jae putting on his shoes. "I could feel a hole at the back of my head with your stare," said Jae, looking up and grinning when he sees Hyunsuk's face. Hyunsuk is flustered a bit and looks away, embarrassed, while Jae laughs. He then stands up and walks closer to Hyunsuk stops right in front of him.

"Come here," he says, grabbing Hyunsuk's chin with his left hand. And before he knew it, his lips are being met by Jae's. It only lasts for less than a second but Hyunsuk can still feel that warmth from Jae's mouth against his own. His heart is racing like crazy.

"I might take a long time. Please have dinner without me, okay? I love you," he whispers in Hyunsuk's ear before giving him one last peck on his lips and walking out of their house.

"See you!" said Hyunsuk loudly. Hearing him, Jae looked back and smiled brightly while waving at him. Hyunsuk waves back.

Hyunsuk glances at the clock on the wall.  The numbers say it is 11:30 p.m. He let out a sigh, both of his hands clasped together on the table. He stares blankly at them, feeling more and more restless as each minute ticks by.

Suddenly, his phone rang. He immediately stands from his chair with a smile on his plastered on his face and walks to the other side of the room.

"Hello, hyung?" he answers, answering his phone with enthusiasm. His smile vanishes once he hears what the person on the other end of the line has to say. His eyes widened in shock, his smile now gone from his face. His heart skipped a beat as he stared straight ahead.

"W...which hospital?" he asked quietly. He felt cold sweat running down the back of his neck. His heart was pounding loudly against his chest, making him unable to hear anything around him. He hung up the call, his mind racing. He quickly, moves to his room, taking out his jacket and shoes before rushing outside of his apartment.

"Jae hyung, please be safe," Hyunsuk murmurs to himself.
