Chapter 54

Yoongi woke to pounding on his hotel room door. When he finally got there and opened it, Jin pushed into the room. His eyes were red-rimmed and face blotchy.

"What's wrong?!" Yoongi demanded.

"Jimin was attacked. We're going home. Get dressed." 

"What the fuck do you mean he was attacked?! I just talked to him a few hours ago!" Yoongi was panicking and his words came out harshly. 

"I don't know all the details. He's in the hospital. Namjoon called me." Jin stopped rushing around packing Yoongi's stuff and saw that his friend is frozen in place. 

"Yoongi, snap out of it! Get dressed!"

Yoongi did as he was told and threw on the first clothes he saw - coordination be damned.

"I booked a private plane home so you can get there fastest. And without photographers. A car is downstairs."

Yoongi grabbed his bags and followed Jin out of the room. When they got in the car, he reached for his phone immediately.

"Joon, please tell me he's ok."

"I don't know yet. He's in surgery hyung. He lost a lot of blood."

Yoongi wiped at tears threatening to fall. "Was it Jehun?"

Namjoon sighed before replying. "Yeah. He's been arrested."

That was all it took for Yoongi to break into sobs - his shoulders shaking as tears poured out. He gasped for breath as the guilt consumed him. This is all my fault. Jimin would be just fine if not for me. 

Knowing him better than anyone, Namjoon tried his best to reassure his hyung. "It's not your fault Yoongi. Jehun did this - not you. You couldn't have known he was capable of something like this."

"It still wouldn't have happened if not for me. He was mad at me. Jimin was just collateral damage."

"You can't think like that. You did what was right for you and Jimin by refusing to get back with him. Should you have dated Jehun when you're in love with Jimin? I'll answer for you...Of course not."

"Jimin wouldn't be in surgery in a hospital if I chose differently. Look, we are pulling up to the airport. I gotta go."

"Try to rest. See you soon."

Yoongi climbed out of the car and grabbed his bags before climbing into the plane. He briefly thought how he should be excited for his first private plan ride. But nothing can excite him right now.

The plane ride was long - too long. Yoongi listened to music and mostly just tried to control his thoughts and emotions. He can't even think about losing Jimin like this. His baby does not deserve any of this. If Jehun wasn't in jail, Yoongi would kill him. No questions asked.

Yoongi ran into the hospital with Jin right behind him. Namjoon met them in the lobby and took them to a private waiting area since Yoongi is now very well-known in Korea. 

"Any news?" he asked as they walked.

Namjoon shook his head. "Not really. A nurse came by and said they are still working on him. But that's all."

"Has anyone called his family?"

"I don't think so. We can't get into his phone and he's been unconscious since I got to the bar earlier."

"Where is it? I know the code."

Namjoon reached in his bag and gave it to Yoongi. "Jin, can we send the plane to them? I'll pay for it."

Jin nodded and got on the phone - knowing that Jimin is from Busan - to call the company and have the plane flown immediately,

Yoongi took a deep breath and called Jimin's dad. He explained as much as he knows and told them which airport to go to. They both cried and Yoongi could hear Jimin's mom wailing in the background.

After that, it was just waiting. Waiting and pacing. Pacing and waiting. It was exhausting. Excruciating to the mind. So many thoughts running wild. What if he's dead? What if they're doing CPR right now? What if he's been dead this whole time and they won't tell us since we aren't family? What if he lives but blames me? I blame me. 

Yoongi stayed in that headspace for what felt like hours. Maybe it was. Time is irrelevant when your waiting for this kind of news. Every second feels like a minute. Every minute an hour.

When a doctor finally walked in the room, Yoongi cried immediately - not even knowing the news.

"We've done everything we can. It's up to him now."
