OLIVIA
It was finally time for the School break and I was so excited to leave town for a few weeks. I had decided to go with Patience, since she was the only one who seemed to be tolerating me at the moment.
She gladly accepted to come with and I could tell that she also needed to get away for a while. We bonded over music and movies the whole drive, having such a good time after so long.
"I'm so glad you invited me, Liv... I feel like we don't see each other very often lately. How have you been?" She asked.
"Well, as good as I can be, considering the situation... Thanks for agreeing to come with."
"Of course! Liv, you're my friend and sister! That'll never change, no matter how much I love Spence... Relationships are hard, and I don't think it's anyone's place to judge one that is not theirs."
I felt at ease around Patience. She has always been a great friend to me, and I appreciated her even more for that.
"How have you been?" I asked, emphasizing on the word you.
I knew Patience was having a hard time adjusting to her new schedule and most importantly, to Coop's new relationship.
"I'm okay... Slowly getting back into my groove. I've come a long way already, so no pressure."
"I wish I was at that stage already. Hurting is hard." I replied.
Patience nodded her head, probably understanding it all too well.
"Olivia, what you need right now is time and space to grow out of your feelings. Allowing yourself to feel them is the first step if you want to get clarity."
"Clarity... A word I'd rather not use anymore." I mumbled, more so to myself.
We got to Simone's aunt's house where we would stay during the trip only to find a familiar silhouette standing on the porch. I pulled up and parked the car in the driveway before getting out of it.
"If this ain't the heartbroken duo in the flesh!" Simone joked.
As much as I wanted to be annoyed by her remark, I had to admit that it was funny. And I was happy to see my sister after so long, so I just let it go.
"Hey, heartbroken chick number zero! You've paved the way for us to walk on, living legend." Patience fired back.
I let out a dry chuckle because it was honestly a great burn. Simone had it coming.
"Okay, I lost! Come on in."
She said after hugging each of us, before she lead us inside.
Her aunt was in class so we had the afternoon to ourselves to catch up and chill. Simone told us all about her school life and how fierce her competition was.
I listened to her being so passionate about her sport and it reminded me of Spencer and everything I did not want to think about.
"Can we not talk about sports this week? I'm traumatized." I said.
The girls laughed.
"Girl, it's not the sport the problem, and you know it! What's that whole story about the dinner date though? You didn't finish explaining it to me last time." Simone said.
"What dinner date?" Patience asked, getting interested.
A let out a sigh, not really happy about revisiting that feeling from a few weeks ago. I still gave them the short version.
"What?! And Coop has the nerve to say you're playing Spencer, when he's got a whole new girlfriend out there?" Patience exclaimed.
"I didn't say she was his girlfriend! I don't know that."
