OLIVIA

"Happy birthday to you, my big big babies!" Mom said, squeezing Jordan and I into an embrace.

She made the trip to my school just to surprise us with a cake and a couple of hugs, with the complicity of our dad. I should have expected that much when he called the two of us to meet him for lunch at G.A.U's gym center, considering that Jordan didn't go there anymore.

Plus, when my dad does lunch dates it's always about something.

People started catching up to what was happening and wishing a very embarrassed Jordan and an fairly amused me a happy birthday. Until I remembered where I was.

I felt a bit nervous being around Jordan's old teammates for obvious reasons. I had singlehandedly destroyed both their coach's and star quarterback's careers, putting their entire program in jeopardy. Jordan also left the team, and now my dad stepped in between Coach Kenny and his job. I don't think the Bakers were their favorite people at the moment.

To be honest, I was also quite anxious to see Spencer again. Even though we all came back from the past weekend's getaway with high spirits, I couldn't brush away the feeling that he was going to ask me about the new guy I was seeing.

"Hey, Mrs Baker."

I spun around when I heard the familiar voice. Spencer hugged my mother and smiled while walking over to me.

"Happy birthday, Liv." He said.

He hugged me then turned to Jordan.

"Where's my birthday hug?" My brother asked.

We all laughed at his remark.

"I wasn't joking." He insisted.

"Not in your wildest dreams." Spencer replied.

"I know you both have plans tonight, but let's have lunch together now. Babe, you're free for the rest of the day right?" Mom asked.

"Yes, I can absolutely free myself for lunch time with my family." He answered.

I loved my parents' sweet bond. It was truly inspiring.

"Great! Jordan, call Layla and ask her to meet us at the restaurant. Spencer, you're coming with, right?"

"I would have loved to, but I have to meet with my moms to help her finish packing up."

"I can't believe she's leaving soon." Mom reacted.

We all made our way outside of the gym while talking. I made sure to stay close to my dad and to look too busy to engage a conversation with Spencer.

"What are your plans for tonight?" My dad asked us.

Before any of us could reply, someone called my mother's name.

"Hello, Mrs Baker."

Both my mother and I turned around at the same time, and while she looked confused, I was curious about who stood before us.

"Ahem, my name is Samuel Jenkins."

"Um... Nice to meet you, Samuel."

Mom looked at all of us, still seeming confused. With good reason.

"Oh, Sam is one of my old teammates." Jordan explained.

"Yes, a fantastic Running Back that I'm lucky to have on my team." Dad added.

Samuel chuckled lightly.

Only Spencer and I looked aware of the heat emaning from my head at the moment. I had not felt that effect from anyone in a while.
