SPENCER"Spencer, at this point it's no longer bad luck we're talking about, it's more like you're trying to win the first season of survival of the unluckiest!" Coop joked.
I glanced at my friend, not in the mood for any of her stupid jokes.
"What was Alicia even doing here, Spencer?" Jordan asked me.
"He's already said that she came over unannounced, bro!" Coop replied in my stead.
"Yeah, but it doesn't tell us what she came for!" He insisted.
I understood why he was upset. This whole situation was out of my control and I was honestly struggling to make sense of any of it. If it was me opening that door to find Olivia with another man I would have reacted the same way, because it just looked that bad. It was even more complicated after the week we had.
"She just wanted to clear the air about our last conversation and start over as friends. I couldn't just ask her to leave. She has never done nothing wrong to me." I explained.
None of them spoke after my explanation, but Jordan paced around the living room.
"Is it that bad, though? I mean, Olivia and you are no longer together and last time I checked, y'all had agreed to be friends. Friends can't get mad at friends for dating other people." Coop argued.
"I'm not dating Alicia." I reaffirmed.
"Not the point, man!" She replied.
"Spencer, I believe you. I'm just still a bit on edge after what happened this week and I really wished her first day back wasn't as chaotic." He admitted.
I accepted his opinion because I felt just the same. I didn't even know she was coming back so soon, or else I would not have waited for her to come to me. I needed to clear the air with her, about everything.
"What happened this week?" Coop asked us.
Jordan and I made eye contact before looking away from Coop. That was all it took for her to be suspicious.
"What are y'all hiding from me?"
"Nothing." Jordan replied.
Maybe a bit too quickly, because Coop scoffed at us not believing a word of it.
"If no one tells me, I'm going to ask Olivia directly." She threatened.
"Coop, it's not my place to tell you anything. It's a private matter." Jordan explained.
"It's not your place, then is it Spencer's? Spill it."
"Coop, just let it go for now. Please." I begged her.
She must have heard the seriousness in my voice because she stopped pushing me for an answer on the matter.
"It's that deep, huh?" She simply asked.
I nodded my head and let out a pointed breath, leaning against the wall behind me.
"It's going to be fine, Spencer. I'll try helping as much as I can." Jordan offered.
"Thanks."
I closed my eyes, feeling the pressure going up by the minute, as though if I didn't speak to Olivia soon enough, I could completely lose her this time.
OLIVIA
I stayed inside my car for an hour, thinking about what I had witnessed. I knew I had no rights being upset, but that was all I was.
