SPENCER
No. Plain and simple.
That was Olivia's answer to my proposal. Even though I was taken aback at first, I had a couple of days to process it and realize that I didn't care. I was going to marry that girl.
All I had to do was convince her to trust me on this.
She had been busy helping Maï plan her farewell dinner, for the past two days, so I was going to see her for the first time since. We did not discuss if I was picking her up for the party or if we were meeting up there, so I had to figure out a way to ask her without sounding like I was pressuring her.
"Even though I think it's silly to question whether or not to pick up your girlfriend for a party, you can just call her and ask," Jordan said.
"Are you picking up Layla?" I asked him.
I knew that they were still fighting, but just wanted to tease him a little after that sass. Clenching his jaw before turning to me, my best friend replied, stressing every single word.
"Layla and I are not going together because she's getting ready with Liv. It's already close to Darnell's place, so she's going to go from there."
"Then why is Spencer asking about taking Olivia if she has already planned on going with the girls?" Asher asked.
Once again, Asher was not understanding.
"Because Spencer is trying to win some points with Liv after your last game night's debacle which, by the way, I am still bummed out for missing!"
"Thank you, JJ!" I confirmed.
"Moving on! What are we doing then?" Jordan asked.
"You two are insufferable. I'm out, Jaymee is waiting for me. See you at the party!" Asher exclaimed.
"Hey, don't leave me here. You know you're my chaperon tonight!" JJ followed.
After Jordan and I were left alone, we still couldn't come up with a good plan until Coop stopped by to pick up something. She sat across from us after we asked her opinion, not saying a word.
By the time we understood why she was staring at us with googly eyes for minutes, we could not stop her fit of laughter from engulfing the entire room. She was beside herself.
"What's so funny, Coop?" Jordan asked as he stood up and started pacing again. "Believe it or not, we're pretty serious about it."
"I can tell! That's what makes it even funnier! How in the world are you asking yourself whether to pick your girls up for a party? Hell, even I am picking up Patience, and we're not dating... yet."
My eyes shot up, looking at my best friend. That was new information.
"Finally!" I expressed, feeling excited. "It was about time that you realized you still loved her... wait, what about Skye?"
"Still my girl, but that's a story for another day. Circling back to your problem, just go together and meet the girls at the party! If they didn't call to check in, it must mean that they've planned on going together. Don't smother them too much, they'll get over whatever is going on faster that way."
Even though her explanation was kind of rough, we managed to understand what she meant, making us decide to follow her advice. We drove directly to Darnell's place, expecting nothing much of the night.
"Hey, boys! Welcome!"
Maï welcomed us in.
"Liv and Layla just got here!" She added, taking our jackets. "They're in the kitchen!"
