Their conversation was meant to be serious, and everyone could sense it. One of the reasons why Jordan was so on edge was that he was reminded of the past, by Layla. Being worried about Olivia, she shared what happened the previous day and he clearly wasn't looking forward to seeing his sister go through another heartbreak.

She has had too many for one year.

"Are you ready to tell me what's really up with you now?"

Layla leaned against the counter next to him, looking at her boyfriend.

"I'm good, don't worry about it."

Acting like he was suddenly occupied, Jordan grabbed a bottle of Apple cider prepared for one of the games and joined the group back.

Meanwhile, another lovers' quarrel was brewing upstairs. Spencer and Olivia had gotten right into the topic, not sparing one another a minute to breathe.

"You didn't have to react the way you did. Noah is my friend."

"All I'm saying is that you could have taken another friend to the theater. It didn't have to be him." Spencer retaliated.

"Why does it matter anyway? You were not available, and you were the one who told me to go with a friend!"

"Yes, but not him!"

"Then who?! All of my friends were out of town!"

"Darnell? Maï? Hell, even my mom would have gone with you if needed! You could have called any of them!"

Olivia was getting irritated by the minute. She could not understand the fuss around Noah, and she didn't appreciate Spencer's blaming game.

"Spencer, I wanted to go with someone that shared my enthusiasm for plays or someone who loved me enough to listen to me going on about it for hours! That's why I asked my boyfriend, who once again didn't have time!"

"Olivia, you know that I can't miss Sunday practices! I vowed to be there for my team anytime they need me! It's not like it was news to you!"

"Oh, right! Then who's going to be there for me when I need it, Spencer?" She asked, furious over his remark.

"Oh, come on Olivia!"

Their voices were getting louder, which attracted their friends' attention.

"Do you think we should intervene?" Patience asked, looking around at their group of friends.

"I don't think it's our place to do so," Darnell replied.

"Darnell is right," Coop added.

Spencer's explanation bothered Olivia even more because she felt he was just looking for excuses not to try.

"So what?! Am I meant to put my life on standby because you prioritize yours? You told me to go with a friend, but you should have said specifically who you wanted me to go with, then !"

"Do I have to tell you that it makes me uncomfortable to see you go around town with him for you to know?"

"Yes, because I'm not a psychic to interpret the signs! You should say what you want, straight up!"

"Oh, so you'd have zero problem if I went on a friendly date with Alicia, right? Because listening to your logic, until you don't tell me specifically not to, I'm free to do so!"

When Spencer said that last part, it took everything in the girls downstairs not to go there and slap some sense into him. How could he even suggest anything of the sort?

"Do you even hear yourself talking, Spencer? How can you compare someone you've shared physical and emotional intimacy with when I was at my lowest, to someone who literally helped save my life?"
