Jackie's POV
Jackie is sitting on the side of the bed looking over different sketches for her wedding gown. She wants something simple yet classic. Out of all the plans for the wedding, her gown is the only thing that she has the most say over. Her mother and Jack's father are determined to put on the greatest event there ever was. Sadly, a day that is supposed to be about her and Jack is turning into a circus.
Jackie looks up when she hears her bedroom door opening. Jack walks in his shirt partially open, and his tie just hanging around his neck.
"Hi Jack, how was your day?" she asks looking at her fiancée.
Jack sighs and sits down on the foot of her bed. Even though they have separate bedrooms, Jack still sleeps in her room with her unless it's late when he comes up to the residence and doesn't want to wake her up.
"Kid, I don't want to talk about it," Jack replies with a sigh.
She gets up and comes up behind Jack. She begins to massage his shoulders which she notices are very tight.
Jack groans as her hands on his shoulders relax him. "That feels great kid, a little lower."
When she finishes her massage, Jack feels a lot more relaxed.
"How was your day?" Jack asks.
"Pretty good, my mother called with more ideas about the wedding," she replies rolling her eyes.
"I'm afraid to ask what the ideas were?" Jack replies with a chuckle.
"Just know she has gone as far as doves being released."
Jack begins to laugh, "great all we need is a magician and we'll be all set."
She giggles cleaning up the sketches on her bed.
"I just want to take a hot bath and get in bed," Jack says taking off his shirt and revealing his undershirt.
"Do you want me to start your water for you?"
"I would greatly appreciate it," he replies as he takes off his belt.
She goes into the bathroom and starts the water for her fiancée before leaving him alone.
The next morning Jackie is sitting with her mother, Lee discussing more wedding plans.
"I'm saying Jacqueline, it is important that everything is perfect on the day of your wedding," Janet says.
Jackie takes a drag of her cigarette before exhaling smoke. Right now she rather be doing something else than having this conversation with her mother.
"And I hope you'll be discreet about your...habit," Janet says looking at the cigarette in her hand with disgust.
With a sigh, "yes mother I'm going to be discreet. My goal isn't to embarrass Jack with my habit."
"Good, to this day I still don't understand why you picked up such a disgusting habit. It's not ladylike, and it's definitely not a good look for the soon-to-be First Lady of the United States!"
Jackie sees Lee looking at her out of her peripheral.
"Mother is there anything else to discuss about the wedding, I do have other things I have to attend to other than this," Jackie says with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Such as?" Janet asks with a raised eyebrow.
"If you must know mother, I do have a few more staff members I have to pick out and I am working on restoring this house," Jackie says before taking another drag of her cigarette. This time she makes sure she takes one longer than the last one.
"Jacqueline, you have been living here for almost two months and you still don't have all of your staff?" Janet asks surprised.
"Mummy, there are a lot of staff I have to oversee, trying to plan this wedding as well as setting up a committee to restore this house. There are only twenty-four hours in a day and I am only one person."
"Well, I suggest you get everything else done. Your wedding day will be one of the most important days of your life, and it is being done on the national stage. I refuse to let you embarrass me Jacqueline in front of everyone," Janet says getting up and then walking out.
Jackie lets out a long sigh.
"You would've thought that it was her wedding the way she's acting," Lee finally says after a moment of silence.
Jackie rolls her eyes, "I can't wait until this is all over. As much as I am looking forward to marrying Jack, I'm dreading it at the same time. She's going to be nitpicking over everything and Jack's father keeps adding more and more people to the guest list, eventually, we'll be getting married in a stadium and people will be able to buy tickets to attend our wedding.
Lee shakes her head.
"Well you only have six more months to go," Lee says trying to cheer her up.
"Please don't remind me," she replies facepalming.
