Jack finds himself sitting on the sofa holding Jackie in his arms. They have been watching the returns for the election. An hour ago they came back to his house on the Cape, put the girls to bed and Jackie snuggled up to him on the couch. Mindlessly he caresses her soft skin. Tonight he plans to cover it in kisses and if he wins he plans to celebrate with an after party in his bedroom.

"Jack, did you want something to drink?" he hears Jackie's voice bringing him out of his thoughts.

"Uh yes, a glass of water is fine," he replies.

He continues to watch the tv as the count slowly continues as they patiently await the results of the election. Never in his life had he ever felt so anxious. This is the highest point of his career is riding on the millions of votes across the country. If he doesn't win this election he will feel like a failure.

Just then Jackie comes back and takes her place from earlier.

"Anything change yet?" she asks.

"No, not yet. I just wish Nixon would concede already," he replies before taking a sip of his water.

"He doesn't want to give up without a fight," Jackie says resting her head on his shoulder.

"He might as well," he says before wrapping his arm around her.

An hour goes by the two of them are asleep on the sofa.

He wakes up and sees a commercial on tv. He groans as he stretches. Jackie lying in front of him looking like a beautiful angel. Moving her hair he kisses her temple before rousing her from her sleep.

"Hey kid, why don't we head up to bed."

"Did you win?"

"I don't know, I'll find out in the morning," he replies.

Jackie gets up and turns off the tv in the middle of another commercial.

"Would you mind sleeping in my room with me tonight," he asks following her up the stairs.

"I guess so," she replies.

They head to Jack's bedroom where they continue their slumber.

Later that morning...

Phone rings...

He groans as he was in a deep sleep. The phone is still ringing. Not wanting to wake Jackie up he reaches over and grabs the receiver.

"Hello."

"Jack, get up! You did it! You won!" Bobby says excitedly over the phone.

"Huh? I won?"

"What are you losing your hearing? Yes, you won! We did it! We did it!" Bobby exclaims.

He perks up, a large smile comes across his face. He can't believe it. He won the Presidential election.

"Get Jackie and the girls up. We're having a celebratory breakfast at the house and then you'll be meeting with the press not long after! We did it! We won!" Bobby hollers excitedly.

"Alright I'll see you shortly," he says before hanging up the phone.

He looks at Jackie who is still asleep.

"Madam First Lady, wake up."

Jackie stirs for a minute and snuggles more into his side.

"Jackie, wake up beautiful we won!"

"Huh? Jack just me sleep a little longer!" she murmurs.

He looks over at the bedside clock that reads quarter after seven.
