Don't cry Molly.
***Madison***
Molly opened her mouth and closed her mouth again before she could tell me anything. She shook her head and looked away, "Actually Madi, this isn't such a big deal. It's nothing. No big deal. Now just go please.".
"Molly, seeing as you're the annoying neat freak in the house, and your room right now is a huge mess, something big has come up." I clarified.
"Molly please, I'm here asking you to tell me what the heck is going on because, I care about you. And letting it out will help ease some of the pain inside...." I held her by the shoulders and sent a small smile her way.
"You're going to laugh...you'd never understand." Molly replied, eyes flaming up in annoyance and anger.
"Molly, I was once your age. We all go through similar things at certain ages. Come on now, you can tell me. I promise I won't laugh at you, I promise. I'll listen." I said in response as I held up my pinkie finger.
Hesitantly, she wrapped her little pinkie finger around mine and nodded simultaneously slumping her shoulders.
"This might seem like a small deal, but it's a big deal to me alright Madi? It really hurts me...so much. This guy in our school, his name's James. He makes fun of me all the time when I didn't do anything to him. He always throws things at me, and pushes me against lockers and leans really close to kiss me. I try to kick him away and push him away, but he doesn't budge...It's painful Madi, I hate him so much. He's physically harassing me and tormenting me everyday...ever since he found out that I had an interest in his other friend." she explained and breathed out a breath she was holding.
"It wasn't like I really liked him, I just had an interest in him...and when the news came spreading to the school, James found out and started doing all these things to me." Molly fell into my arms and cried, her shoulders shaking vigorously as she cried, harder and harder every second. Faintly, underneath her sweater, I could see some scars at the small of her back.
This wasn't a small deal Molly, he's physically harassing you and you were too afraid to tell anyone.
"Don't cry Molly, it's alright. Everything's gonna be okay. I know it." I assured her, caressing her messy yet straight brown hair.
"How do you know if it's gonna be alright, he doesn't stop. And the odds that he'll stop are incredibly low." Molly muttered, tears streaming down her face.
"And when he makes fun of me...when he taunts me? He's making fun of who I am. I get good grades Madi, I won't deny that. I get good grades and I study and work hard to get what I want. James is just an average student. He has a ton of friends and he's pretty popular. I just don't get it. Why can't he just leave me alone? He's popular and he gets what he wants even if he didn't work hard for it, I'm the complete opposite of him, he doesn't need to pay any attention to me. He can just worry about himself." She continued, throwing more information out.
"I hate him so much." She mumbled, eyes closed and tears spilling even more.
"Molly, have you ever heard of this saying? It'll be okay in the end, if it's not okay, it's not the end yet? That's true. That's why I know everything's gonna be alright." I said tentatively, slowly smoothing her hair and rubbing her back.
