She came!

***Madison***

I wake up by my sister's poking and find them staring at me wide eyed. I also find my newspaper work in front of me instead of an overview of the room from my bed.

Crap! Did I fall asleep on my desk while working on the newspaper?!

Crap! Crap! Crap!

I quickly grab my phone and frantically check if I had any missed calls or texts from Joseph.

4 missed calls from Joseph and 5 texts from him.

Shit! It's 1.45 p.m. and I'm not ready. I left him waiting for 45 freaking minutes!!!

"Oh no." I breath as I call Joseph. Tapping my foot impatiently as I waited for him to pick up.

"Hello? Madison?" Joseph greeted on the other line.

"Oh my gosh hi Joseph! I'm so so sorry! I overslept and I'm so sorry for making you wait! I'm on my way right now. Just tell me where you are." I rambled apologetically.

"Oh!" His tone surprised, "Um...okay yeah sure. I'm at the coffee shop where we first did our newspaper work together.".

Flashback. Hmmm, I feel a sense of nostalgia coming.

That day. That day was just magical. Sitting together at my favourite spot. Watching the night sky and the waves soft splashing.

Sharing a moment...together.

"Hello?" Joseph said, snapping me out of my reverie.

"Oh! Hi yeah hi Jose. Sorry. I'll be there in 15 minutes!" I hang up and smile widely.

"Oh my gosh! Madi! You like Joseph! That's so sweet. So cool." I hear Mary squeal in the background.

I turn around shocked to see that the twins were standing there. Or should I say, STILL standing there.

"Uh...hi! H-how long were you two standing there?" I questioned suspiciously.

"Long enough to know and realise that you like him! You should totally tell him how you feel." Mary claps her hand in excitement. Molly just flashing me a tight smile.

"No way." I start as I tie my hair up and head to the bathroom to get ready. "He doesn't like me." I answer dully, shutting the bathroom door behind me.

Looks like I better hurry. I only have 8 more minutes.

***Joseph***

Nervously, I check my phone yet again to see that Madison's estimated time of being here was just 2 minutes left.

Okay. I'm really starting to worry.

What if she doesn't show up? What if she just left and decided to leave me here? What if she got abducted by aliens on the way here? What if her parents gave her a scolding for coming here? What if I never get to see her again because her parents don't approve of me? What if she likes someone else?

Woah...Joseph....what the heck was the last two question?

Oops.

After a few more seconds swimming around in my head. I see the chair opposite me move and someone takes it's space.

She came!

Madison sits in a bit more, and tucks her hair behind her ear, chuckling nervously.

"Hey. So sorry Joseph. I overslept and stuff. Sorry...." She explains again, smiling sheepishly.

"It's okay. You're worth the wait." I manage, my words fading softer as I get to the end of my sentence.

Hearing that, she blushes and tucks her hair behind her ear again.

"Wow. You actually remember this place. It's not that popular you know." She says, trying to break the awkward ice.

"Heck yeah I mean, their coffees and espressos are so freaking good. And I mean...you were the one who brought me here." I blush slightly after saying that.

Calm down Joseph. You can't let her know so soon that you like her. What if she doesn't like you back?

"Anyway, what do you want to order. It's on me this time." I wink playfully, pushing the menu towards her.

"Oh how nice. The usual please sir Jose." Madison says, playing along.

I roll my eyes. "I can't believe you gave me another nickname. Like, genius was enough.".

"Nah that was not enough. And besides, Jose is a nice nickname. In my defence, none of the nicknames I've given you are bad. Like genius. That for a nickname, that's like, saying you're a genius. Nothing wrong with that." She says in response, folding her arms and looking away childishly.

A good childish though. Not a bad one if there's such a thing.

"Okay okay. I never said I didn't like it." I laugh, my eyes squinting and my shoulders shaking.

"Well you implied it." She continued, adding a pout as she went.

"Okay okay. I'm sorry Miss Fiddle. I will leave to order our desired sustenance now. Be good while I'm gone." I declare in my best Mrs. Air's accent. Our science teacher never calls us just by our names.

Laughing she gestures for me to go on.

So far so good. Madison is smiling and laughing once again.
