She didn't do that.

"Well, I'll be off now genius. Remember, it's not your fault that you have glasses. It's them that have a problem. I hope you're feeling better now." Madison pats my shoulder and stands up, exiting the janitor's closet, flashing me a smile before she leaves.
"Very." I say, more to myself than anyone.
As her figure slowly retreats and disappears. I find myself standing up and hurrying over to her.
"Wait! Let me walk you to class. It's the least I can do." I find myself saying to Madison as I caught up with her.
"I thought you'd never ask." She said, smiling widely.
We walk down the hallway, conversing and throwing out questions. Along the way back to class, I couldn't help but observe her features and beauty.
Her eyes, they had bags underneath. Her lips, they were chapped. Her nose, it was sharp and pointed. Her cheeks, puffed out and a few freckles here and there.
As we walk, I slowly zone out and a terrifying thought came to me.
I really really like Madison. I think it was pretty obvious how much I wanted to spend time with her when I'd usually skip lunch and sleep "in".
The only reason why I didn't dare to push open the cafeteria doors and enter in was because I chickened out and was afraid of the judgemental people's stares. Plus, the jocks would be there to taunt and bully me...
For some reason, I didn't want Madison to see all these things happening to me.
Any normal person would probably let me run off and head off to eat for themselves. But Madison?
She didn't do that.
She did neither.
She did something better. She did something only sooomeone that truly cared would do.
She ran after me and stayed with me inside that stinking janitor's closet.
Why I decided to hide and stay in the janitor's closet? I don't know. All I know was Madison Fiddle, she stayed with me and comforted me as I sobbed and cried like the scared frail boy I was.
She stayed and talked to me. Giving me emotional support.
No one else besides my parents has really done that for me.
She was really something special that I hold dear.
But that wasn't the terrifying thought.
It was something entirely different.
I'm losing my eyesight.
I'm going blind.
And when I do, I won't be able to see ever again unless somehow someone donated a pair of eyes for me, which I doubt anyone would.
When I'm blind, how will I read my books?
When I'm blind, how will I walk?
All these questions are the ones you think about when you know there's an expiration date with your eyes...
The thing of it is...when I'm blind, how will I talk to Madison? How will we converse? Will she see me differently when I no longer have the ability to see?
Now isn't that the big question?
Isn't that the big question?
Isn't it?
