What is this feeling?
***Joseph***
Madison and I ran for approximately twenty minutes before reaching our destination.
Her hand never leaving mine as we ran. Wherever she was taking me, it was quite the hike. But I bet it was going to be beautiful.
With careful steps and nervous breaths, we climbed atop the rocks and we were now standing atop a small cliff of some sort. I stopped to catch my breathe, but when my eyes landed on the sight before me, there was no breath to be caught.
It was beautiful.
By the time we had reached our destination, night had befallen and it was really dark.
Honestly, I didn't think we could reach wherever we were going. It was really really dark and knowing that I would see all this black and darkness, it was incredibly scary and dreadful.
I'm grateful though, we're here now and it was beautiful.
I'm lucky that I could see this and experience this before my eyes died....
Okay. Enough with all this. It's getting depressing Joseph.
"So? What'd ya think? Is it beautiful or what?!" Madison asked, eyes glistering under the night sky.
"Indeed it is." I said, still in awe.
Madison and I were standing on some sort of cliff and before us, was the beach and the city behind it. On the beach, the ocean splashed and swayed, the waves swept over the sandy beach and on shore, little blue stars shined brightly.
Glistering and shining.
Before the beach, the city stood, tall and intimidating.
The lights turned on and faint reflections could be seen in the ocean waters.
Without another moment's hesitation, I whipped out my camera and snapped a pic. The beauty that was the beach and the city captured inside my camera. The sound of ocean water swaying and slashing soothing the nerves inside me.
Soon, Madison and I were sitting on the rocks, staring and taking in the breathtaking sight before us. A word was not spoken for we were enjoying the view. I very much did like the presence of Madison with me though...to be frank.
The silence stretched for another minute or two and throughout those two minutes of beautiful silence, I found myself turning to look at Madison. She looked absolutely beautiful, the moon and stars shining underneath her. Showing off her brown eyes and long lashes, illuminating her complexion and skin tone.
She didn't look like anything she was hours ago. Her eyes and nose were no longer puffy and red. They were...all her. All her normal and beautiful self.
Now you're in this deep.
What?
I'm in this deep? What does that mean?
Immediately, I averted my gaze to the ground below me and blushed. My cheeks turning a bright red.
"I come here all the time. Usually, at night because it isn't so beautiful here in the morning or afternoon." Madison said, breaking the silence.
"Really? I never knew this place existed." I replied, surprise lacing my tone.
"Yes, well now you know. This place holds a lot of memories in my head, it's pretty significant to me." She shared, smiling as she talked.
"It was my father who brought me here. He brought me here to see all this wonderfulness." Her smile turned upside down at the mention of her father, a sad frown in replacement of her smile. "I wish he was like that again. Just wanting to spend time with me and not be so into business and work." She whispered, biting the inside of her cheek.
It was obvious to anyone that she holding back tears.
By instinct, I shifted and sat closer to her, our thighs now touching slightly.
"He...doesn't do that anymore?" I questioned tentatively, afraid of getting snapped at.
"No...he doesn't." She says, a sad smile gracing her soft looking lips. "Now all he does is lecture me about being a neat and petite lady. Because that's what the world wants to see, someone who is in control. Someone who is professional."
I listen, all I do is listen.
No words can be said at the moment. Madison was in her own moment and she was sharing something personal to me.
I feel a sense of worry building up inside me. This has to be something personal...she doesn't talk about her father very much, it has to be.
The problem is why is she telling me?
Why is she sharing her struggles and sadness?!
I don't think I'm quite the right person for her to share this all with.
What if I accidentally blurt it all out?! What if I unintentionally betray her and tell about her father to someone?!
I don't trust myself.
You can't trust me Madison.
I might just spill this information to the wrong person...
"I'm sorry and I hope all things go well and improve with your father and you and your family..." I start, "but please say no more..." my eyes locking with hers.
Say no more because I don't trust myself.
Say no more because you can't trust me.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Madison asks, the worry evident in her eyes and tone.
"I-I-I'm fine...I-I'm fine..just f-fine."
What is up with you today Josh? You're flipping out so much, and it all seems to be around Madison.
Why huh?
I...I don't know...
What is this feeling?
