An odd and indirect encounter

***Madison***

My father pushed the brakes and the car stopped moving. We have arrived at school.

The school was decently sized and there were American flags hanging everywhere. Stairs led to the doors of the school and a ton of different people were scattered everywhere.

Some were hanging around the front of the school, just chilling, riding skateboards and such.

Some were sitting under trees, either playing games on their electronics or reading books.

Some were on benches, talking to their friends and texting on their phones.

My heart raced enthusiastically as I pictured all the things I could do with so many different people. Skateboarding, basketball, soccer, tennis and ping pong. Oh all the glorious sports.

Sebastian and I bid our goodbyes to my dad and we headed for the school gates.

I took another long look at the school, admiring the exterior design of the school and the small green fields surrounding the school before I heaved a heavy sigh.

I was definitely going to have a lot of fun in school, playing different sports with different people, but it was going to be hard to be a petite and proper girl, because that's just not who I am. If the students or teachers see how active and committed I am in sports or in the newspaper team.

Then my parents are going to find out and they're not going to be pleased with me.

Plus, it doesn't help things much, considering I'm so anti-social...especially around girls. I just can't seem to talk to them like how I can with my mum and my sisters.

Being shy isn't good at times, when has it ever been really?

I thought back about what my father told me when we were in the car just a few minutes ago.

"I want you to focus on your studies and being polite, professional and tidy. Not violent, rude and messy. You need to set a good example, not just for your sisters, but for the world."

"We're living in a dangerous and corrupted world here Madison. Remember that."

Sighing, I ran my fingers through my hair and followed Sebastian into the school.

"Hey," Sebastian spoke up, breaking the silence between us as we walked to our classes, "I'm sorry about what happened in the car Madison. Your dad was a little harsh on you. I'm really sorry." he finished sympathetically.

"Don't apologize Seb, it's not your fault. It was mine, I'm sorry." I replied with a sad smile.

Well that's nice of Seb, he's always so nice....not just to me, but to everyone.

As we walked to our classes in silence once more, I saw a boy running out of a class in a rush. Before him, many other boys chased after him. It was clear that they were angry at him for some odd reason.

I could not see much detail or features of the boy that ran out of the classroom, for he was too quick.

But one thing caught my eye, and that his eyes were an electric, ocean blue colour.

It was visible from where I was standing and he had black coloured frames rimming the outside of his glasses.

Well wasn't that an odd and indirect encounter.

I shook my head, I need to get to class. I can't waste my time and think about where that boy was headed to. I can't be late for class. Not on the first day of school.
