Ivy felt happy. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, Ivy had just finished her assignments the night before (that were all due the next day), and she was prepared for the math test she had last period. She felt accomplished, and actually excited to go to school for once, which was a huge surprise.
Wanting to feel even better, the girl hopped in the shower to make her feel refreshed and ready for the day.
She had no idea why she was in such a happy mood, but she just was.
After drying off completely, Ivy changed into her outfit for the day, not bothering with makeup because she was feeling confident.
She strode into the kitchen a couple minutes later, with a fresh pair of jeans on, a tank top and a cardigan. Hanna was in the middle of a phone call, while sitting at the kitchen counter when Ivy wandered in.
Ivy grabbed the bread from the pantry and the peanut butter as well. And as she was placing the bread in the toaster, Hanna was wrapping up her phone call.
"All right, enjoy your conference. Love you."
"Was that mom?" Ivy wondered. Her back was still to Hanna, as she prepared her coffee.
"Yeah. She was pestering me about going to school and eating and all that." Hanna told, pouring the milk into her bowl.
"Well, she loves you." Ivy grabbed her toast, and began spreading the peanut butter. "She also doesn't want to get a phone call from the school."
The two girls shared a chuckle at their mother's words. Throughout their lifetime both girls had heard the speech loads of times growing up. Both Ivy and Hanna had attempted to, on multiple occasions, stay off school by pretending to be sick. But Ashley was never fooled.
Just as Ivy was about to take a bite of her toast, a knock at the window startled the girls.
And when Ivy realised who was at the door, the happiness that she once felt, disappeared.
"Morning, Ivy, Hanna." Wilder greeted, after Hanna had pulled open the door with a growl. "Is your mom home?"
"Why?"
"'Cause I'm not supposed to talk to you without a guardian present."
Ivy scoffed, crossing her arms. "Like that's stopped you before."
Wilden's gaze landed on Ivy, with a sudden glint of mischief flickering in his eyes. "But you, since you're an adult, I can talk to you without an guardian present." He stated.
Ivy wasn't at all a bit fazed by his statement. She knew her rights. "You can. But I'm not talking to you without my mom present. I can do that, can I?" Her eyebrow raised in question. "Or will you just force me, like you do with girls who are underaged?"
The smirk wavered on Wilden's face. But he spoke up quickly, trying to hide how her statement effected him. "Fine. But do me a favor...Tell your mom we need you two to come in for a blood sample."
