Ivy used a spatula to flip the soft, golden brown pancake in the pan. Her gaze was captured by the soft food, as it sizzled in the pan. As she was waiting for it to cook, her mind spiralled into deep thought. She wished she lived a simple life. Maybe one day she would. She would wake up, make a delicious breakfast like the one in front of her, and head out to work (or every school if it came fast enough). She would be finally bored. So bored that she would ask for something to happen in her life.
But her life was nothing like that.
Things were constantly happening. Things that shouldn't be happening in a teenage girl's life. Murders, stalkers, life-threatening situations. She was faced with things that were indescribable to the average person. And what was even worse, was that she was constantly facing these situations. It wasn't a one off situation that was an accident, but someone seriously wanted Ivy and her friends to hurt.
But why? What had they even done?
As far as Ivy knew, she hadn't done a thing. Ivy tried to be kind to everyone who crossed her path. There was too much hate in this world, and she refused to be apart of it. But clearly she hadn't been as nice and kind as she thought. Someone clearly wanted her dead. But if they could just tell her why, maybe she'd be able to fix it.
On top of all of that, Ivy had to keep her boyfriend out of trouble. It was hard, given that he acted on impulse when he was unable to express his emotions. That was something she picked up on from the moment she got to know Jason. He pushed away his feelings, used to drown them in weed and alcohol when it got too much for him. But he felt things, Ivy knew.
She could see right through him - the facade he put on for the world. And that was something Jason hated. Ivy didn't have to try, and she could see right through him.
However, she had loosened her hold on Jason. She was too wrapped up in other things that she forgot what Jason was going through. So that's why thoughts had been firing around her mind from the moment she woke up that morning. Her brain hadn't stopped since the Halloween Train.
After the events on the Halloween Train, and Jason's breakdown, Ivy took him home, where he crashed, completely exhausted from the crying, and the long day he had. But while he was passed out in his bed, Ivy was sitting on the sofa in his room. She was too scared to leave him alone. Two members of the N.A.T. club were dead, and Ivy couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen to him.
So she stayed. She stayed until Jason was awake, stable, and sober enough for Ivy to leave him alone, then she left, deciding that he needed some time alone before they talked about everything.
The next morning, she used the spare key to his house that Jason had given her not that long ago, and hauled the supplies into his house that she would need for a delicious breakfast. A breakfast she knew that Jason loved.
