The one thing Ivy didn't expect to return home to was: her sister telling her that her mother had run over a detective who harassed her, then when they returned to the scene of the crime, he was nowhere to be found.

So that's why Ivy stood and gaped at Hanna after the girl broke the news. That was until Ashley rose to her feet and rushed to tell the full story to avoid any confusion.

Wilden was harassing Ashley, so some would say he deserved it, but the one thing that puzzled the Marin girls was: Where did Wilden go? Did someone pick up his body? Did he walk away? Ashely didn't stay around long enough to see if Wilden was dead or not, so really they had no clue.

The following day was spent with them constantly looking over their shoulders - which was what Ivy and Hanna did regularly. They also secretly searched for any signs of Wilden and where he could've gone, but found nothing concrete.

Normally Ivy and Hanna were usually on edge, but when a creepy detective who had a reason to harm them was thrown in the mix, their paranoia grew.

However, Ivy didn't face any threats when she was working at the bookstore, so she felt like she could relax and be herself.

It was extremely still morning, and only a few people were in the store. Some were students studying and the rest of the customers kept to themselves, reading or working away. A regular, Thomas, was sat on one of the chairs reading a compelling history novel that Ivy had recommended him. From what Ivy gathered, he seemed to be enjoying it so far.

Ivy had been at work for several hours now. It was a Saturday, meaning she had an earlier shift; A longer shift. So she brought some homework with her to finish so she would have something to do while the quiet hours passed.

After she finished sorting books into their shelves, wiped down some tables, and made some coffees for customers, Ivy returned to the front desk with a small sigh. The most busy part of the day had passed and she was just ready to go home.

Ivy pulled out her phone to check the time, but was distracted by the notifications she had received.

(2) missed calls from em <3
em <3: i found a key to toby's apartment. i'm going to go see if i can find anything.
em <3: you want to come?

Ivy's eyes lifted from her phone, searching for Lexi and Oliver. The two had started working just after noon where they focused on unloading books and handing out coffees to customers.

They shortly appeared out the back room, both carrying boxes filled with books, chatting away to each other.

Ivy called out to them as they approached, "Hey, will you two be okay on your own if I go? There's something important that I've got to do," She told.

Both Lexi and Oliver immediately nodded at her request.

"Yes, Ivy. We'll be fine." Lexi gave her a reassuring smile.
