Radley really creeped Ivy out. It had this looming feeling like it was watching you at all times. It brought goosebump to Ivy's skin, and made shivers pass over her. She didn't know what exactly about it freaked her out, but it made her feel uneasy.
It wasn't the patients that made Ivy feel uneasy, it was the actual building. It held a lot of secrets that had been hidden by loads of people over the years. They loomed over the building and somehow they were powerful enough to cause a lot of harm to certain individuals.
Radley did have some positives. Most of the staff were lovely and it seemed to be a place that really was trying to help the patients. Most of the patients were just people who needed help and were desperate to get the help they needed. It was also secure and safe, which meant nobody could escape, but also that nobody could get in.
Despite their attitudes towards Radley, the moment Dr Sullivan called the girls to let them know that Spencer was allowed visitors, they jumped at the chance. They climbed in Emily's car and immediately drove over there to see her.
"Is anybody else really nervous?" Ivy glanced over at her friends. They were becoming closer and closer to the door that separated them from Spencer, and it only made Ivy feel nervous. What if Spencer didn't want to see them?
"If by nervous you mean I'm about to piss my pants, then yes," Aria answered.
"Glad I'm not the only one," Mumbled Emily.
Eyes drifting around the place uncomfortably, Hanna spoke up, "This place really gives me the creeps," She admitted.
When they stopped by the gate, the nurse spun around to face them and informed, "Spencer's just in here." She then nodded over to the woman sat at the desk, who pushed a button to release the gate. The nurse gave her a thankful smile, and pushed open the door.
One by one, the girls followed after her hesitantly. They had no idea why they felt so nervous to see Spencer. She was their best friend. Their best friend who was struggling so badly that she had to be emitted into a sanatarium. Their best friend who was broken and needed help.
The four spotted Spencer sitting in a chair near the back of the room. She had this glaze across her eyes, like she was in the middle of a daydreaming as she focused on the window. Ivy knew at that moment that the girl in front of them was desperately needing help.
"You have visitors. Spencer?" The nurse called out to her when they approached the table.
The four girls stood behind the nurse hesitantly. They remained quite nervous to see their best friend after what Dr Sullivan had told them. They knew her mental state wasn't great, and were worried Spencer would be hurt by something they said or did. They were walking on eggshells around her.
Spencer's eyes finally lifted from the window and landed on the four girls. Her eyes showed no emotion as she stared at the girls she called friends. She stared at them like they meant nothing to her. Like they were strangers she had just seen for the first time.
