I quickly walk to Magnus's place and smile when he opens the door. "Welcome come in and take a seat and we'll start with the reading." He says as we both sit before I put my hand out to stop him from starting. 

"I'm not here for a reading. I know your a warlock Magnus and I need your help, I'm from an alternate reality and in this reality I'm a shadowhunter." I say. 

"If that was true without an anchor you would be assimilating into this world." Magnus says as I find paper and a pencil and begin to draw. 

"Believe me, I am trying to fight it." I say quickly. "Which is part of why I need your help." I say as I drop the paper in-front of him. "In my dimension Shadowhunter's still battle demons. and now there is something so much worse." I explain. "I need your magic to help me stop it." I explain. 

"I can't help you." Magnus says and my eyes widen in shock. "My magic's gone dormant." He explains and I sigh. "But there may be something." Magnus says before he walks away and comes back with a very large old book. I start looking through as he makes something. "This better work." 

"What does that do?" I ask curiously. 

"Hopefully, kick start my magic." Magnus replies and I nod. "Lets give it a minute." He says. "That book is very precious, warlock's spells preserved in all their grantor." 

"It's stunning." I say as I run my finger's across it. 

"This isn't working. this is the longest I've ever abstained. from a lot of things." He says in annoyance and I just smile weakly at him. 

"Why don't you just try something simple." I scan the room before looking at the cup. "Move that." I say/ Magnus tries and fails to use his magic. "Usually, you have a bit more of a flourish." I say sheepishly. Magnus sighs before trying again only to fail again. "It's okay, we just have to find the portal." I say as I place a hand on his arm. 

"Even if my magic was working I would still need an energy signature of some kind to crack it." He says and I pause. 

"Lets try this." I say as I take the crystal from the necklace. "I think this only came through with me because it was originally from here, maybe this could help." I suggest and Magnus reaches out to touch it and we both feel a jolt. 

"Yes, now that's what I'm talking about. we have liftoff." I chuckle as Magnus tries to find the portal. "The energies very faint, its been dormant for a long time like me. lets see if we can wake it up." He pauses before he continues speaking. "Its in a sub-basement of fort knocks." 

"Like literally fort knocks?" I ask confused. 

"No but it may as well be, the institute." Magnus says and I smile. 

"That shouldn't be a problem. They are hosting an anniversary party tonight that I know the hook up to." I say before a notification comes through on my phone making me pull it out. I see a message from Izzy. "Meet me tonight at seven pm at the institute, dress to impress." I say before grabbing the crystal and walking out. As I am leaving I find dad's number and pull up messages. 

Hey dad, a friend of mine was hoping to come to the party tonight, think you can get them on the guest list, the name is Magnus Bane.

you would be a life saver, I sort of owe them one and this is what they wanted.

I send the message and then put the phone away and hurry to meet Izzy. when I arrive I throw the door open to find Clary on the bed and Izzy with a black eyes. "Oh my god Izzy, what happened?"
