the fair folk / a problem of memory -1

We all freeze at that and I look back up at my newly found mate who is smirking at me. "hello, Adelina, I have long awaited our meeting." He says as he grabs my hands and brings it to his lips while still holding eye contact with me. 

"Oh, um hi Acacius. It's nice to meet you too." I say not removing my eyes from his own green orbs. 

"My brother will be joining my current proxy at your downworlder cabinet meetings. now you should be leaving." Amara says and I finally break eye contact with Acacius to meet hers only to find a mischievous glint and a straight face. 

"yes, I guess we should." I reply with a slight smirk before I grab one of my pens and grab Acacius' arm and write my phone number as cheesy as that is before smiling up at him. "I expect to hear from you." I say causing him to smirk and I just know he is going to be trouble. 

"You can expect that." He replies. 

"Expecting something and receiving it are different." I state boldly. 

"You will receive a call from me." When my eyes sharpen he sigh's and continues. "Within a weeks time." He continues causing me to smile happily at him. I reach up and peck his cheek before skipping over to Jace, Simon and Clary. I whistle once and the bird I created earlier returns to my arm before I pull the sleeve back down. "goodbye Adelina." 

"Goodbye Amara, Acacius." I say with a smile and slight head nod before turning to the group I arrived with. "lets go." I say as I lead the way. 

"Um, I, wait what?" Simon splutters making me smile and kiss his cheek as well. 

"It's time to go." I say before hooking arms with both him and Jace and pulling them away. Clary following after us. I pause briefly at the exit to send a wink over my shoulder before we are swiftly heading back towards home. 

When we leave Simon hugs me before saying a quick goodbye, when we return to the institute Clary walks off and Jace goes to tell Alec what happened. I head straight to my room to wash and shower before having something to eat. On the way back with my food I run into an upset Izzy and quickly pull her into a hug before pulling her into my room. 

I place my food down and quickly sit down on the bed with her. Izzy spends awhile telling me everything I missed and I just offer comfort and movie's. We spend the rest of the night that way until we eventually fall asleep. 

In the morning I make sure Izzy has some quilt before getting dressed and walking out of the room and getting us both some breakfast before returning to find her awake. "Figured you would be hungry." I say as I pass her the bowl of cereal before sitting next to her to eat my own. 

"Thankyou, for last night I mean, I know you don't tend to have a lot of free time." she says making me sigh. 

"It's one of the things I hate. I have my mates but they are all in different places so I rarely see them and I don't often have the time to check up on them and it makes me feel horrible. I feel like I am just a burden to all of them. This also means that I don't often have the time for my friends or my sister but I will always drop anything If anyone I care about needs me." I say with a smile. 

"And I would do the same for you." Izzy replies after finishing her mouthful. 

"Can I tell you a secret?" I ask dying to tell someone. 

"sure anything." She replies with milk dripping from her lips causing me to laugh. 

"I brought a house." 

"What?!" Izzy exclaims and I kid you not milk came out of her nose. "You brought a house?" 

"Yeah, when I was kidnapped by Valentine on his boat. I brought a house for me and my mates and have been doing it up ever since. You even have a room there, it's technically a mansion." I mutter to myself. 

"How the heel did you have the money to afford all that?" 

"I wrote and published books and sold my artwork and other things like that. I also taught a mixed martial arts class for kids for several years." I say before putting down my now empty bowl, Izzy following suit. 

"Well that gets rid of the whole, your mates being all over the place issue." Izzy says making me smile. "And of course I would have a room of my own, It's only fair of course." Izzy replies with a smirk. 

"Thanks Izzy." I say with a smile. 

"Any time baby sis." Izzy says with a smirk. "But onto a worse topic of conversation, Did anyone tell you what happened at the downworlder cabinet meeting?" she asks me and I shake my head. "Luke tried to kill Valentine." I freeze. 

"What?" I ask in shock. "Does he not know what the repercussions of that are?" 

"Yeah." We hear a ping and Izzy grabs her phone. "Alec wants us." I nod and we both get up and head to the ops center where we find Alec, Jace and Sebastian waiting for us. I kiss Alec and Jace quickly before wrapping my arm around Alec's waist to listen to him speak. 

"I requested that we move Valentine to the guard in Idris, the Clave's approved the transfer." 

"You told them about the assassination attempt?" Jace asks and my arm tenses around Alec's waist. 

"no I explained to them that moving Valentine out of state is the best way to restore relations with the downworld. I left Luke out of it." 

"It's the right decision." Sebastian says and I smile and nod at him in which he responds in kind. 

"we have not been given a finding on who orchestrated the hit on Valentine." Alec continues wrapping his arm over my shoulder and pulling me in closer to him. 

"I might actually have some leads on that, I'll get a report in by the end of the day." with that Sebastian walks away. 

"Izzy you will be leading the transfer mission, Jace and Adelina, you will assist." 

"acctually I have some things I need to do and I would rather sit this one out." I say and Alec nods at me. 

"Is everything alright?" He asks and I nod." 

"Yeah, I just, I don't think me helping with this is for the best." 

"Okay, If you get the chance, can you talk to Magnus, I think he needs you." He says quietly so that Jace and Izzy don't hear.

I nod and kiss his cheek. "I will do. I'll see you all later." I walk off and head to the entrance only to run into Sebastian. "Hey Seb." I say with a smile as I go yo walk around him only to pause.

"Hey, Adelina. Where are you rubbing off to?" He asks when he looks up from the tablet in his hand.

"I, I'm going to look for my brother." I say quietly.

"What?" He asks in response.

"The seelie queen told me yesterday that he was in new York and I know everyone thinks he is dead or just some kind of demon, but he's my brother. I, I have to find him. And I don't even know what he looks like." I say as I run a hand through my hair.

"You trully care about him?"

"Of course I do, I just, I don't know how I can find him."

"What would you do when you find him?"

"I would hug him, tell him I'm sorry for everything thats happened to him, tell him what has happened to me and ask him to come home."

"Do you have anything you can use to track him?"

"No."

"What about blood tracking?" Seb asks. "I mean, if you care about him that much then you would do anything wouldn't you."

"That's not a bad idea. I am his twin so it should work as long as his demonic blood and me now being an angel don't efffect it. thanks Seb, I've got to go." I say quickly walk away, shooting Sebastian one last smile.
