This world inverted -2

my eyes snap open to find an older version of myself looking into a mirror. I guess in this world I was never injured. I look at myself for a minute , so this is what I will look like when I'm older. I find myself already dressed in a black and white plait short skirt with a black vest top with an open back that ties around at the waist. there is a black leather jacket similar to the one I was wearing before on the back of the chair and I smile. 

while looking in the mirror I notice I am wearing a gold flower ear cuff with a long dangling bit on each ear, along with a blue and silver bracelet accompanied with the necklace with the portal shard. I decide to put my hair into my usual plait into a bun and that's when I notice the long metallic purple nails making me smile. 

Once I'm done I find high black boots and fingerless lace black gloves and put them on before heading to the door only to pause when I hear a knock. "Addy, honey, are you coming out for breakfast?" I hear the voice of my mother ask and my eyes widen as I open the door and hug her. "wow, well that's a new way to say good morning." I just smile and pull away. 

"Just wanted to remind you I love you." I say as I walk out into the kitchen with her following behind. 

"Morning Ad's." I hear the voice of Valentine Morgenstern say and I freeze, my first instinct is to attack but I know that in this universe he's the good guy so I just smile instead. 

"Morning dad, morning Ris." I say when I notice Clary is there and I try to act normal as I sit down at the glass table beside her. I've got to try and act normal while also trying to find the portal. "What are we having?" I ask. 

"Well, in honor of your father's mad hatter party tonight-" mum starts only for Valentine to cut her off. 

"Your mum made waffles for you." I smile and start to eat. "So Adelina, when do I get to meet this new man in your life." Valentine asks and I just shake my head lightly. 

"Val." Mum says and I chuckle. 

"What, I have to give him my stamp of approval right?" He retorts and mum just shakes her head and turns to me. 

"So Adelina, how is your new book coming along. your last ones have all been very popular I'm sure this one will too." I smile at that. 

"Its coming along quite well." I say before putting food into my mouth. 

"Oh my god, Addy, you have to watch this commercial, its hilarious, its so bad its good." I turn to find a commercial all about Magnus bane and smile as my eyes widen. "See." Mum says and I nod. 

"Anyway, me and Ad's are meeting up with our friends, we've got to go." Clary says and she stands up. I nod and start towards the door. 

"We'll see you both at the party tonight." I hear Valentine call out as we leave. 

Me and Clary head to the outside café where we normally met Simon back in my world and on the way there Clary talks about how school is going and I listen to her ramble until we arrive at the café until she spots Simon and runs up to him and kisses his cheek. I smile and quickly walk over. My eyes flicking all over the place as I think about a way to get out of this. "Oh, I know that look, caffeine deprivation." Simon says and I chuckle. 

"Good to see you too Si, but I'm fine actually I have to go, I've got something to do, sorry." I say quickly but Simon grabs my arm with a shake of his head. 

"Nope, I know that look in your eye, it means I either have to caffeinate you immediately or accept full responsibility for you killing someone and we all know how I am with blood." Simon says as he pushes me and Clary to sit down. 

"Is that new?" Izzy asks and its only then that I notice the other people at the table are Izzy and Alec. 

"yes, I got it not long ago." I say with a smile. 

"Ans it goes with your dress because you're both getting ready at my place tonight right?" Izzy asks. 

"Of course." Clary responds while I look confused. 

"Ready for what?" I ask. 

"that is not even a little bit funny." Alec says and I smirk slightly playing it off as a joke like they believe. "I have poured my heart and soul into planning this anniversary party for the institute and the theme is amazing." He says and I just smile wider. "Nothing is going to ruin it, its already bad enough that Jonathan can't make it now." Alec says and I pause. 

"Pardon?" I ask confused. 

"Oh yeah, your idiotic twin brother decided to tell me just this morning that he wasn't going to make it, what an ass." Alec says and I chuckle. 

"That's my twin for ya." I say lightly before looking around. 

"Anyway, what is with this guy and the mad hatter." Alec says going back to the previous topic. 

"Visionaries are quirky crazy 4D internet tech thinking inside of the box." Izzy defends. 

"I'm beginning to wonder if you don't have a thing for your boss." Alec says. 

"as if Clary and Ad's dad would ever go for me." Izzy says ad I recoil in shock. 

"woah, my dad." Clary says in disgust as Izzy starts to defend herself and I stop listening until Simon arrives with coffee. Simon passes me an iced caramel latte and I smile. 

Just as I take a sip Jace comes up to me. "Hey, you wanna get out of here?" He asks and I feel myself say yes before I can even think about it. Jace leads me over to the front of the van where he starts to kiss me. I feel myself slipping into this version of myself until a car horn pulls me out of it. 

I push Jace away gently. "I've gotta go, there's something I need to do before the party. I'll see you there." I say as I peck his lips before walking back to the table and grabbing my drink. "I've gotta go do something before tonight I'll see you all later." I say before quickly walking away.
