 interlude 1 

After Simon's gig I return back to the house for the night, not wanting to risk running into Jace who I am still angry at. I spend the next few days working on the house or visiting my non-shadowhunter soulmates, I have also been talking to Alec on the phone or at Magnus' regularly and he knows I am fine, on the other hand I have been completely ignoring Jace. 

I still wasn't happy with what he did even if he did reverse it and he could do with a good knock to his ego. Alec had also made it a habit to tell me how miserable he has been since I stopped talking to him and eventually I gave in and returned to the institute. 

The second I return arms wrap around my middle and a head buried in my neck. "I missed you." I hear him say as I feel a gentle kiss to my neck. Jace keeps his head firmly where it is as he continues talking. "I am so sorry angel, I know what I did was shitty and wrong and I found a way to fix it, please forgive me." he begs and I smile and wrap my arms around him. 

"Of course I forgive you." I say as I bring my hand up to his hair running my fingers through it. "But only because I know you were just being swayed by the idea of being with your blood family."

"Good." He says as his lips glide up my neck to my ear. "Cus' I'm taking you on a date." He whispers into my ear causing goosebumps to appear on my skin. "were going to a fancy mundane restaurant that I think you will enjoy, I'll come get you at six." he says before kissing me hungrily and walking off. 

I smile slightly and walk in the direction of my room only to be wrapped up in another hug from my older shadowhunter soulmate. "Hey Alec." I say as I bury my head into his chest. "How is running the institute"? I ask my clearly stressed mate. 

"Exhasuting." He says with a small smile making me smile in return. 

"I'm sure you will find a way to handle everything, I am right here if you need me." I say with a smile as I lean my chin on his chest. "I am your soulmate after all. You also have an insanely hot warlock boyfriend who would be willing to help if you asked." I say with a smile and he sighs his eyes unfocused. 

"Yeah, I know." He pauses and furrows a brow before looking down at me curiously making me tilt my head slightly in a puppy like manner. 

"what?" I ask confused. 

"How do you do it?" 

"Do what?" I ask, drawing out the what. 

"Handle having so many soulmates and knowing it is your literal destiny to unite the shadowworld? How do you not become overwhelmed?" I smile slightly at his questions.

"Well firstly because all of you make sure I never feel overwhelmed  even with having to split my time between each of you. I also naturally spend more time with you and Jace as I live with you and we do missions together. If I ever do get overwhelmed I just leave and take a moment to myself. And lastly I sorta just ignore the whole prophecy thing, acting differently due to it isn't gonna do any good." I say softly. 

"That doesn't seem to difficult." He responds slowly. 

"It isn't, anyway, I've gotta go get ready for my date with Jace." I say with a wide smile as I pull away slightly from Alec. 

"He taking you anywhere nice?" He asks me as he leans against the wall. 

"a mundane restaurant, and I only have-" I check my phone and my eyes widen. "Three hours to get ready and decide what I am gonna wear." I say before quickly pecking Alec's cheek and rushing off. "I'll see you later, love you." I hear him shout the same words back and smile as I rush to my room. 

I have a shower as soon as I get to my room before searching through the limited clothes I have here as I still haven't gone shopping. I sigh when I find nothing and send a text to Izzy begging for help. The girl in question arrives not long after carrying a very short black dress. It had thin black straps, an open back and it was see through from under my breasts to my hips with black flowers coving the whole dress. "No." I say quickly. 

"Come on." She says as she closes the door behind her. "It's perfect." 

"It's revealing." I say as blood rushes to my cheeks tinting them pink. 

"You will look great in it." She says as she holds it Infront of my body. "And it's a perfect fit. Come on, just try it." She begs and after a few seconds I relent with a sigh. 

"Fine, but only because I have nothing else." I say before grabbing the dress and walking behind a screen to get changed out of my towel into the dress. "You know what, you may have been right." I say as I walk out and admire myself in the mirror. 

"You look gorgeous and my brother isn't going to be able to keep his hands off of you." She says and my blush significantly increases. "Come sit down and I'll do your hair and make-up." She says and I do as she commands. She pulls part of my hair back on either side of my head into a braid that meets and goes down my back before curling the remainder of my hair. Izzy put on a light make-up, so much so that you could barely see it. By the time she was done I felt amazing and Jace was knocking on my door.
