Nothing comes easily,
Fill this empty space.
Nothing is like it was,
Turn my grief to grace. After almost two hours they'd arrived at what seemed to be a lab.
They were expecting an orphanage or something but nothing seemed to be exactly normal today.
"Hello, Mr. And Mrs. Agreste, welcome to 'Marigold's Home for Special Children'. We've been expecting you." A woman who appeared to be in her thirties greeted them cheerfully.
"We're not- nevermind." Nathalie sighed.
The woman shrugged them off and began to say something that neither Gabriel or Nathalie were listening to.
"I thought it was a lab." Nathalie whispered to Gabriel, "As did I." He whispered back.
"Follow me!" She smiled, placing one hand forward before starting to walk with the couple following closely behind.
Gabriel noticed his fianceé's nervousness as they drew closer and closer to the room filled with children, so he took her hand in his own and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
Nathalie mouthed the words 'thank you.' Leading Gabriel to mouth back, 'don't mention it.'
"Here they are." The lady smiled, perhaps a little too enthusiastically.
She opened the door to a fairly large room with a good amount of children inside.
Nathalie and Gabriel observed silently, the whole place felt off.
"A doctor will be with you shortly." The same woman, who still hadn't said her name, walked off.
"A doctor?" Nathalie mouthed, Gabriel shrugged in reponse.
"This whole place is giving me Stranger Things vibes and I don't like it." Nathalie joked to conceal how nervous, sad and angry she actually was. Gabriel laughed light heartedly at her joke, nodding in agreement, "You're so right."
"You must be the Agrestes, welcome to our lab." The middle aged man grinned.
"You must be the doctor." Nathalie flashed him a professional smile and shook his hand.
"I am, I'm Dr. Meeks." He smiled gently, shaking their hands.
"We're here to find out if what we've been told is true." Gabriel said, his eyes softening as he felt Nathalie's grip on his hand grow stronger.
"I'm afraid it is, you've been lied to, Mr. And Mrs. Agreste." He spoke softly. "Your son is in fact alive."
Nathalie fell to her knees sobbing.
Gabriel froze in place before almost instantaneously dropping to his knees besides her and scooping her up into his arms.
"The hospital you were at is under investigation and the police have taken the doctors and nurses who were involved in the kidnapping and abuse of your children into custody."
"What about m-my daughter!" Nathalie breathed between sobs.
"We were unable to find any trace of her, we are so sorry, Mr. And Mrs. Agreste."
"I failed her! Hell, them!" Nathalie sobbed. "I didn't protect them well enough! I should've fought harder, I failed as a mother Gabriel!" Nathalie sobbed.
"I'm not fit to be a mother, Gabriel!"
"That's not true, Nath..." He whispered.
"You're an amazing mother, and the fact that you feel guilty about not doing more to fight for a child that died in your arms and one that you were told was stillborn, proves that."
Nathalie nodded, tears still streaming down her face at a rapid pace.
"Promise me that when our daughter arrives you won't let anyone take her, and if they have to, you'll go with her, no matter what. Promise me, Gabriel." She sobbed out.
"I promise, I promise." Gabriel whispered, searching her teary eyes.
Nathalie inhaled a sharp breath as her stomach contracted once again.
"I'm f-f-fine." She hissed, tears still rolling down her face.
"The stress isn't good for you, my love." He whispered.
"I said I'm fine, Gabriel!" Nathalie yelled, Gabriel shot her a concerned glance but turned back to the doctor whom was eyeing them with a concerned glare.
"Braxton hicks." Gabriel explained with a sad smile.
Dr. Meeks nodded understandably and helped them to their feet.
"Would you like to see him?" He asked.
Nathalie's eyes widened to at least double their size and Gabriel's eyes filled with tears.
"A-Absolutely." Gabriel stammered.
Nathalie nodded in agreement.
The doctor shot them a light smile and led them into another room which apparantly held their supposedly dead son.
A/N: So, what do we think about 'Marigold's Home for Special Children.' And what do we think about said special child?
