But I'm holding on for dear life,
Won't look down, won't open my eyes.
Keep my glass full until morning light,
'Cause I'm just holding on for tonight.
Help me, I'm holding on for dear life,
Won't look down, won't open my eyes.
Keep my glass full until morning light,
'Cause I'm just holding on for tonight.
On for tonight, on for tonight.Home, at last. It had taken a few weeks but Nathalie was home, God, how she had missed this...bittersweet place.
She could hear the, somewhat irritating squeak of the wheels of her wheelchair on the tiled, marble floors, not being able to take her eyes off the patterns.
"Nathalie, are you alright?" Adrien questioned, bending down to meet her gaze.
Not long after that, she snapped back into existence.
"Hm? Oh, yes. I'm fine, thank you." She smiled graciously, though she felt God-awful.
His face warped into disbelief, she could tell he didn't believe a damn thing she had to say.
She sighed and shook her head.
"Just...it's fine, I'm fine." She murmured.
He nodded softly, still not totally believing her.
"Adrien, Nathalie!" They heard the familiar cry of an adult male.
"Gabriel..." Nathalie whispered, blush settling on her now rosy cheeks.
"Oh, Nathalie..." The air knocked out of his lungs, "Oh, God." He whispered.
Adrien smirked softly and departed from the area, deciding to give them some privacy.
Gabriel walked briskly up to her and kneeled to her height.
His eyes searched hers before he took her face in his palms and pressed his lips against her.
"Nathalie," He whispered against her lips as they broke away from the kiss.
"Gabriel," She whispered back.
He chuckled softly, resulting in a laugh of her own.
As their laughter died down, the only thing left was the intense eye contact they shared.
"I missed you." She uttered out.
"I missed you more," He sighed and wrapped his arms around her.
"Impossible," She smirked.
He chuckled softly and planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Nathalie, I l-"
"Mr.Agreste!" A shrill cry interupted him.
Gabriel sighed in frustration and stood up straight, taking Nathalie's hand in his own.
"Yes?" He responded dryly.
"I'm sorry, Mr.Agreste, I tried to stop her, I really did-" A member of staff, Ms.Doris began to explain.
"It's alright, Ms.Doris, you may go." Gabriel ushered her off with a wave of his hand.
The woman bowed her head quickly before scrambling away.
"You put out a notice that you needed a temporary new assistant to step in for your current one." The dark blonde explained.
He sighed in response before speaking again, "And your name is...?"
"Leila. Leila Yieldz." She squeaked out, as timid as a mouse.
"Nice to meet you, Leila. You're hired. Consider this your first day, Nathalie here will train you."
Nathalie's eyes widened as she looked up at him before looking back at Leila.
"Uhm, nice to meet you, Leila." Nathalie offered a slight smile, similar to a smirk.
"Same to you, Ms.Nathalie." Leila beamed.
"Please, call me Nathalie," Nathalie smiled.
"You're excused, Leila. You may go have a cup of tea or coffee, or whatever you prefer in the kitchens, just go and give Nathalie and I a minute, please." Gabriel waved his hand, signaling for her to leave.
She nodded quickly and turned to leave before freezing.
"Where are the kitchens?" She squeaked.
Gabriel rolled his eyes and pointed ahead.
Leila nodded and speed-walked away, in the wrong direction.
Nathalie mentally face-palmes herself and laughed light-heartedly.
"She seems...sweet," Nathalie struggled, Gabriel smiled, happy that she wasn't upset at him until she spoke again.
"But. You hired her ON SPOT without checking ANYTHING. And did you even consider the fact that I may not be okay with this all?! Or that I may just be fine!" Nathalie scolded Gabriel making him cower.
"Well, I-"
"Save it, Agreste." Nathalie spat.
Nathalie attempted to wheel herself away but failed miserably,
She shut her eyes tightly and sighed heavily , "Gabriel?" She murmured.
"Nathalie?" Gabriel smirked.
"Shut up." She said quickly.
He chuckled and began to roll her away.
