After defeating Agatha, Jaden's last battle will be with Lance, who uses Dragon-types. But before that, something unexpected would happen.
Jaden and Growlithe were once again resting in the Pokemon Centre. His pokewatch beeped.
It was Cynthia.
She messaged him to see how he was feeling. He messaged back that he was fine. She then put that she would try and come to his battle against Lance. He texted that he couldn't wait.
As he was getting up, he heard a commotion. He looked out the window and saw people gathering and looking up. He decided to check it out.
Jaden: Come on, Growlithe.
Jaden and Growlithe were outside and saw what everyone was staring at.
Jaden: What's that?
Pokedex: Charizard, the Flame Pokemon and the evolved form of Charmeleon. When expelling a blast of super hot fire, the red flame at the tip of its tail will burn more intensely.
Jaden: But isn't Charizard an orange colour? It's black. Oh! It must be a shiny Charizard. Huh? It's being followed?
He noticed a helicopter following Charizard.
Jaden: Team Rocket. Come on, Growlithe. Let's follow them.
Jaden and Growlithe followed the helicopter from below.

After tailing them for a bit, the helicopter landed after firing a net launcher that captured Charizard and it landed in the forest. The net was fireproof.
Grunt #1: Ah! Where did it go?
Grunt #2: I don't know. I lost sight of it. We'll have to search on foot.
???: Well hurry up! The boss doesn't like waiting.
The grunts set out for Charizard.
What they didn't know was they weren't the only ones looking.
As Jaden and Growlithe were searching, they heard noises.
Jaden: That way.
They saw Charizard trying to escape from the net.
Jaden: Easy now. Let's not startle it.
Charizard spotted them and used Flamethrower to defend itself.
Jaden: It's okay. It's okay. Calm down. We're here to help. Woah!
They dodged the Flamethrower.
Jaden: Here. An Oran berry.
He threw Charizard a berry and it accepted and ate it.
He then noticed the net wasn't burning.
Jaden: It must be fireproof. We need to find another way to free it. Come out, Aerodactyl and Kingler! We need to try and cut the net. You too, Growlithe.
As they were trying to free Charizard, it noticed how helpful they were being. While they were cutting, some grunts came onto the scene.
Grunt #1: Hey. Who are you?
Grunt #2: A nosy trainer, no doubt.
Grunt #3: Let's teach him a lesson. Go Raticate.
Grunt #2: Go Golbat!
Grunt #1: Go Pinsir!
Jaden: Three-on-one huh? Not exactly fair. Aerodactyl and Kingler, you keep cutting. Growlithe, you're with me. Go Electabuzz and Pidgeot!
Grunt #1: Pinsir, use X-Scissor!
Grunt #3: Raticate, use Hyper Fang!
Grunt #2: Golbat, use Air Slash!
Jaden: Growlithe, use Psychic Fangs on Golbat. Electabuzz, use Brick Break on Raticate. And Pidgeot, use Sky Attack on Pinsir.
Growlithe jumped at Golbat and bit it with fangs of psychic power. Electabuzz dodged Raticate's attack and struck it with a swift chop. Pidgeot dodged Pinsir's X-Scissor, flew back around and landed a super effective hit.
Team Rocket's Pokemon were easily defeated.
Grunt #2: Let's get out of here.
Grunt #1: Yeah. Let's bounce.
Grunt #3: You'll pay for this.
They ran away.
Aerodactyl and Kingler finally freed Charizard from the net.
Jaden: You're free. Wow! You really are amazing. I can tell you're strong.
Then they heard noises from the distance.
It was more grunts.
Jaden: Quick, let's go. Return you guys.
They all fled the scene.
They fled to the edge of a cliff.
Jaden: We've run out of room.
???: Well well well. I heard about you. A trainer who keeps butting in.
Jaden: I only butt in when it's you guys.
???: Flattered. I'm Cassidy. This is Butch.
Jaden: Don't care.
Butch: You've got a mouth. Go Exeggutor.
Cassidy: Go Scyther.
Jaden: Go Growlithe. Now...
Before he could choose another Pokemon, Charizard decided for him. It joined Growlithe's side.
Jaden: You wanna battle with me?
It turned around and nodded in response.
Jaden: Awesome. Growlithe, use Dig. Charizard, use Heat Wave on Exeggutor.
Growlithe came from underground and attacked Scyther from behind. Charizard released a wave of heat against Exeggutor and landed a super effective hit.
Cassidy: Don't take that. Use Slash on Growlithe!
Butch: Exeggutor, use Egg Bomb on Charizard!
Scyther sharpened its blades and headed toward Growlithe. Exeggutor fired egg bombs at Charizard.
Jaden: Dodge them, quick!
Growlithe went underground and Charizard flew up.
Cassidy: What?!
Butch: Oh no.
Jaden: Use Flare Blitz and Dragon Claw!
Growlithe appeared from beneath Exeggutor and struck it with loads of power. Charizard powdered up its claws to resemble dragon claws and struck Scyther.
They both took direct hits and their Pokemon were defeated.
Cassidy: But how?
Butch: No way.
Jaden: Yes way. Now if you were smart, you'd run away.
Butch: We will!
Cassidy: But not because you told us.
Cassidy and Butch fled.
Jaden: Wow. That was entertaining. How are you feeling, Charizard?
Charizard responded by using Flamethrower on him.
Jaden: I guess you want to go now.
But it didn't.
Growlithe sensed what it wanted to do, so it did something about it. It took a pokeball from Jaden's bag.
Jaden: Growlithe? What are you doing? A pokeball?
Then he realized what was going on.
Jaden: So, you want to come with me?
Charizard nodded.
Jaden: Then, here.
He pressed the pokeball against Charizard and was caught instantly.
Jaden: We got a new friend. A powerful one at that, too. And just in time. Tomorrow, we face Lance.
After catching a black Charizard, Jaden would be prepared to face the last Elite Four member, Lance.
And the dream continues...
