After battling trainers and training with his Pokemon, they were almost at Lavaridge Town.
Jaden: Come on, we're almost there.

After arriving, Jaden headed to the Pokemon Centre to rest up.

Nurse Joy: Here are your Pokemon. Thanks for visiting.
Jaden received his Pokemon and decided to send some over. He sent his Grovyle over and received Swellow.
Then he headed to the gym.
He knocked on the door.
Jaden: Hello, is anyone there?
The doors opened and the gym leader answered.
Flannery: Hi there. I'm Flannery, the gym leader. I take it you're here to challenge me?
Jaden: I am, yes.
Flannery: Then come this way.
Flannery led Jaden to the battlefield.
Referee: The gym battle between Flannery and Jaden will begin. This will be a three-on-three battle and the challenger is allowed to make substitutions. The battle will be over when one side's Pokemon are unable to continue. Now, bring out your first Pokemon.
Flannery: Go Slugma!
Jaden: Go Aron!
Referee: Battle begin!
Flannery: Slugma, use Light Screen!
A wondrous wall of light appeared and then disappeared to reduce damage from special attacks.
Flannery: Now use Yawn!
Slugma let loose a huge yawn.
Jaden: Aron, dodge and Metal Claw!
Aron dodged the yawn and attacked using steel claws.
Aron landed a hit but it wasn't effective.
Flannery: Slugma, use Incinerate!
Slugma attacked with hot fire.
Jaden: Dodge and use Rock Slide!
Aron dodged the fire and summoned large boulders from above.
The large boulders fell toward Slugma.
Flannery: Slugma, watch out!
Slugma was unable to dodge and took a super-effective hit.
Flannery: Slugma, use Overheat!
Slugma got the boulders off its back and attacked at full power with intense fire.
Aron took a direct hit.
Jaden: Aron, are you okay? That was strong. Overheat is a powerful attack.
Slugma's special attack lowered.
Flannery: Now use Incinerate!
Slugma attacked using hot fire.
Jaden: Dodge and use Headbutt!
Aron dodged the attack and landed a hit with its head.
Jaden: Now Rock Slide!
Aron summoned large boulders from above which fell toward Slugma.
Flannery: Slugma dodge!
Slugma wasn't quick enough and took a super-effective hit and was defeated.
Also, Light Screen wore off.
Referee: Slugma is unable to battle. Aron is the winner.
Flannery: Slugma return. Thanks and get a good rest. Now, go Magcargo!
Jaden: A Magcargo. Aron, use Rock Slide!
