Neteyam
We wake up and go our separate ways to our Maruis. I walk in to see all my siblings staring at me along with my parents.
"NETEYAMS GOT A GIRLFRIEND!" Lo'ak mocks. I roll my eyes at him.
We all sat together discussing what we will be doing with the day while eating our breakfast.
"Go on get out of here, kids." Dad says, shooing them out of the doorway.
He comes up to me and puts his arm around my shoulders.
"So... did anything-" He began.
"Dad! NO! Come on now." I say looking at him like he's lost his mind.
"Jake!" Mom yells disapprovingly.
Dad pulls me close. "If you need any tips, you come to your old man, okay?"
"Dad! Are you fucking serious right now?! Stop being so gross." I pull away disgusted.
I look over and see my mom rubbing her temples. I can only imagine the wrath my dad has coming his way.
"What? How do you think we made you?" He winks.
I'm trying to hold my puke in.
"That's enough Jake, they will mate when they are ready!" Mom hisses angrily.
"Yeah... I'm getting out of here see you both later." I say putting my arms up and walking out of the Marui.
The day passes by as I'm continuing to learn this finger talk with Caya. I've been slapped up-side the head too many times to count.
We decided to take a break and notice Kiri being harassed by Ao'nung and his friends.
As I'm walking up, I notice Lo'ak aggressively in Ao'nungs face. I get closer with Caya next to me watching her go comfort Kiri and attempt to gather Lo'ak.
"You heard them. Leave my sister alone." I hiss.
"Oh look, big brother is here to save the day." Ao'nung laughs.
"Back off. Now." I say through gritted teeth poking Au'nongs chest.
"Enough Ao'nung!" I hear Caya hiss behind me.
Ao'nung put his arms up, backing away. I turn to walk away until Lo'ak walks past me, approaching Ao'nung.
I sigh in annoyance.
"Lo'ak!"
He turns to me, "I got this bro."
I watch him walk up to Ao'nung.
"See, extra finger. I'm a freak right? But look I can do something cool." Lo'ak says as he begins to ball his hand up into a fist. Then he punches Ao'nung in the face.
"That's called a punch, bitch!" Lo'ak sneers.
"Oh shit." I hear Caya say next to me.
They all start fighting and Lo'ak was starting to get his ass beat.
I look at Caya and wince a little.
"Go. Help your brother." She says seriously. I turned away and looked at all of them.
"Wait, Neteyam..." She says and I turn sharply.
"Just don't hurt mine too much, please." Her face drops.
I nod in response and then run over and begin fighting the others.
"You're all stupid!" I hear Kiri yell in the background as she's laughing.
As I'm on top of Ao'nung, pummeling his face I see Caya trudging up to us all, angrily.
"Alright, that's enough!" She screeches, going over to the boys fighting Lo'ak and ripping them apart, smacking them all upside their heads. She then makes her way over to us and throws me off of Ao'nung and picks him up by his ear. She looks at both of us with animosity.
"I said enough. Go home, now. And clean yourselves up, you fucking skxawngs." She growls, we both wince.
I gather Kiri and Lo'ak and make our way back to our Marui. My father is standing there looking like he's ready to rip our faces off.
'Great, I pissed off my... girlfriend? And now my dad..'
He begins going off on Lo'ak.
"Why are you like this? Huh? Why do you have to cause trouble everywhere you go?!" He screams at him, pushing his shoulders.
"Dad.. they were picking on Kiri. We were just defending her." I say walking between them, putting my hands up.
"Stop defending your brother! And you! You're about to be 20, why are you acting so immature?" He hisses through gritted teeth furrowing his brow.
"Dad! They were all fighting him, that wasn't fai-" I raised my voice.
"I don't care!" He yells disapprovingly, shaking his head.
I step back giving him a confused and angry look.
"Sorry Sir, it won't happen again." I whisper through gritted teeth.
"You're damn right it won't. You're a man now, Neteyam. Start acting like it. You were so mighty and proud to brag about being future Olo'eyktan before we had to come here. Well, that's not how one would act! Especially one that's been training his whole life!" He furrowed his brow pointing his finger in my face.
I gasped, shocked.
"Get out of my sight! Both of you." He puts his face in his hands and huffs.
"Yes sir." Lo'ak and I say in unison and walk out.Caya
I'm pulling Ao'nung back to our hut by his ear.
"Ow, OW! Damnit Caya that fucking hurts!" He yelps, trying to pull away.
"You're lucky this is all you're getting you fucking ingrate!" I whip him inside the Marui.
He winces rubbing his ear and glares at me. I'm looking at his face and notice all the cuts and bruises. I soften my gaze at him and walk up inspecting him.
"Are you okay brother?" I sigh softly holding his face in my hands.
His eyes widen, then go back to glaring at me. "As if you care..." He scowls looking down. Even though he's only two years younger than I am, I still can't help but feel overprotective of him. He was my best friend once upon a time, it was just the two of us before Tsireya came along.
I pulled him into a tight hug.
"I love you, skxawng." I say softly holding him close. He gasps and stands still for a second before pulling me in.
"I love you too Caya, I'm sorry for every horrible thing I've said to you. I didn't mean it. I don't know why I'm so angry ever since they showed up...I- I guess I'm scared that they will take you away one day." He begins to weep quietly into my shoulder.
I pull away slowly and hold his face in my hands. "I forgive you, and no one is taking me away from my family." I say softly, wiping his tears. He gives me a small smile and then I begin to mend his wounds. I leave him to rest for a little and go search for Neteyam.
I'm walking along the beach to see Reya and Lo'ak together. He's wincing and complaining as she's attempting to patch him up.
"Ow! Fuck, OW! Come on woman!"
I giggle to myself and keep walking, not wanting to disturb them.
I finally see him, Neteyams sitting by the shore with his head between his knees and hands over the back of his head.
I walk up slowly to him. "Teyam?" I whisper softly.
"Go away, I want to be alone." He growls.
I furrow my brow and saunter up to him, pulling his face up to look me in the eyes.
I look at his face and notice some small cuts and one on his lip that was still bleeding.
He's looking at me with contempt, I can't help but gaze at his strong beautiful face. He looks away from me and furrows his brow.
"Caya, please.. leave me be." He whispers.
"Talk to me." I sit next to him holding his large arm in my hands.
He stands up quickly, yanking his arm away from me. "What part of leave me alone don't you understand?!" He yells furiously.
"I.. I thought-" I gasp, shocked.
"Oh yeah?! Well, you don't know shit. Get the fuck away from me!" He shouts walking away hastily. "Hate this fucking place." I hear him mutter under his breath.
I sat there frozen, dumbfounded. 'Di-did that shit really just happen?' I couldn't bring myself to move until I heard footsteps behind me. I turn sharply to see Reya and Lo'ak.
"Bro..." Lo'ak mutters quietly with disappointment in his eyes.
I get up quickly and begin to walk away.
"Wait!" Lo'ak grabs my hand.
"He didn't mean it, I promise." He looks at me kindly while Reya is holding my other arm carefully with sad eyes.
I give him a thin smile and nod slightly.
"I'm going home Eclipse is upon us, be careful you two." I say quietly then slowly make my way back.
