Ch 16

CALEB

I got a nice apartment at a place away from both dad and mom. I rented it as soon as I got the chance. I had to pack all my belongings in the carton. While doing so, I got the postcards, Kiera had given me. She said she wasn't in a relationship but when CEO's call came she was happy for a change.

Dad: Are you not going to come back here? You're not even leaving a toothbrush behind.

Caleb: Would I have a reason to come back?

Dad: What are you going to do about all this stuff when you go back to UK?

Caleb: Storage services are great at Boston.

Dad: Why don't we just live together? Why are you moving out?

Caleb: I am going to stay in Boston for a while.

Dad: So as someone who is going to leave after staying a while, can't you stay with your dad here? Would that hurt you?

Caleb: It already did.

Dad sighed.

Caleb: I'm busy. If you don't have any work except convincing me then you can leave.

Dad: Alright. If you need anything let me know.

I don't know why suddenly they started to care about their child. I was cleaning up the last drawer when I saw the earring. The earring which Kiera had lost in Minnesota.

(Next day)

I went to CCD. Kiera was there working.

Caleb: Hi.

Kiera just rolled her eyes at me.

Caleb: Hey, can't you look at me kindly?

Kiera: You are bad news. But how did you know about this place. Ryan told you, didn't he?

Caleb: Why are you so obvious with the hate? It's hurting my feelings. I came to give this back.

I handed her the earring.

Caleb: Why did you leave that behind in my room? Is it a tip?

Kiera: I don't need this.

Caleb: Why not?

Kiera: I lost the other part of the pair, so I'm gonna throw it away.

Caleb: It came back to you after a long time, don't throw it away. What if you find the other side?

Kiera: Did you come just for this?

Caleb: No way. I was passing by.

Then she gave me the look. The look telling me to go away as usual. I was tired of this look.

Caleb: I am going to leave okay!! I'll leave so don't tell me.

Kiera: I was just going to say thank you. Why are you overreacting?

Caleb: Because you are always telling me to leave, whenever you say something.

I was staring down. I was never shy but something about Kiera made me be this.

Kiera: A customer is here. Leave.

Caleb: Well you ended up saying it.

The customer had to be a friend of Kiera. She knew Kiera's name. She was totally judging Kiera. I was trying to hear their conversation. The lady was saying something about Kiera being unemployed. Kiera never said anything back to the people who treated her badly and I couldn't take it anymore. I was walking towards the lady when..

Kiera: Yeah I am working on a calligraphy photobook to be released. Published by Scott Publishers.
