NIGHT TIME

You were terrible at sleeping at night. Naps were much more attractive, but, unfortunately, when school was regularly in session, you had to conform if you wanted to wake up in good enough condition to be a functioning member of society. However, these 10 days of peace you had from Spring Break would allow you to shortly visit your chaotic ways until summer.

Unfortunately, your current wake was also keeping Dash in the same state. While she assured you this was her own version of rebellion with Spring Break here, you still felt guilty. It's rather difficult to fall asleep knowing there are others awake and you are possibly missing out. Dash was very opinionated, though. Her laptop was playing horror shorts from YouTube for you both to watch.

Holding you in her arms, Dash's chin rest on top of your head. The current short was titled Other Side of the Box. So far, it was still in its exposition, but because many other horror shorts were before this one, Dash was terrified, much more than she would admit. When there was an extended period of silence, her hands would grab your shirt as she tense.

"You're not scared?" she tried to tease, a nervous smile detectable in her voice.

"Not as much as you."

"I'm not scared."

"Then let go of my shirt." She said nothing.

"...What does your room look like?"

You smiled, "I have a garden and small farm."

"Of animals?"

"No, agriculture. I have a small rice farm and flowers by my window. I would grow fruit but it.. attracts a lot of gnats and I like to grow my food inside so foxes won't eat anything."

"You live near woods?"

You nod. "They're behind my house."

"We should go camping one day."

"You're not scared a random box will be outside our tent?" You softly laughed when Dash hid her face in your neck.

"Don't worry, Dashypoo" you snickered, reaching your hand behind you and scratching the back of her head. You've heard that head scratches from you are top quality due to your sharp nails and how well you control the pressure you apply. "I'll cuddle you to sleep and protect you from scawy monsters~"

"Stop!" You laughed. It was humorous that she could fight the forces of evil head-on but not distinguish fiction from reality. Though, you supposed that magic was also once fiction. Anything was possible at this point.

THE NEXT MORNING

You woke up when you heard soft, repetitive calls of your name. It was the next day, but you barely remember falling asleep last night.

Dash eventually forced you to rest by holding you so close against her body that all you could see was darkness given the absence of her laptop's light. As she suspected, this triggered the human instinct to rest when it was dark. You both went to sleep with a large T-shirt on, but she specifically wore shorts underneath.

You moved a pillow over your head when the calls did not stop. Mumbling for it to go away, a recognizable chortle had other plans.

Dash whisper-yelled, "Get up! Let's go on a walk together. It's not humid for once!"
