5:37 PM - [YOUR NAME]'S HOUSE

You were expecting Dash so hearing the door knock was also expected, so much so you were waiting in the living room so you wouldn't miss the noise. Smiling when you saw her happily standing on your doorstep after opening the door, you next noticed the small box in her hand.

"You don't have to get me a gift." You've gotten used to American customs and gift giving was not one of them, unless it was a holiday or your significant other's birthday.

"I'm not just gonna let you one-up me." She hand you the gift, rather forcefully as she manually opened your hands to the width of the present.

You softly sighed and set the box down on the kitchen island. Dash seemed very interested in your opinion for the box was nicely decorated inside and out. Gently taking out the paper that was covering the presumable goods, your expression brightened once you saw the actual content. It was a bracelet charm.

Dash smiled, her shoes already off. She's gotten used to your Japanese ways and quickly recognized the house's genkan. While the rest of the dwelling was fairly American, you've been told many stories from your gloating mother of your father begging her to include the Japanese feature in her floor plan.

"I noticed your bracelet," Dash explained, revealing your wrist.

The accessory was handmade by your father with reed tube beads. Over the years, many charms have found themselves in your possession, so there was now only space for about five more, four now with Rainbow Dash.

She was suddenly hesitant. "Unless that's a you and your parents thing... I can buy us our own bracelet that we can fill!"

"No, it's okay," you laughed. "Not to ruin the mood but Ember also got me a charm. I kept it." You point to the disfigured torii he made with clay. "Anyone can add to it."

"Throw it away."

"I'm not throwing it away." You untied the bracelet to add Dash's charm. Your father purposely made the jewelry adjustable so you could always wear it, no matter how much you grew or how much your weight changed.

"Should we start cooking?" you smiled before the silence went on for too long. "I haven't threshed the seeds yet."

HULLING

"This is..." Dash groaned as another grain flew out of her fingers. You couldn't help but laugh.

"stupid," she conclude. "This is stupid. I'm not doing this with my hands." She was much more fond of the threshing.

"This isn't the rice we're eating," you revealed. "I already have that. I just wanted to teach you a little."

Her eye twitched as she stared at you. "...You don't deserve me." You laughed and got up, but would fall back down when Dash pulled your ankle. You groaned as you face planted into the couch.

"Dash, I'm going to die one day," you groggily lift your head. You were actually a little winded from such sudden movement.

"No, you won't." She pat the top of your head before fixing your flyaways. "I always make sure there's cushion around."

You passively stared, very unimpressed. Quickly grabbing the back of her head when she snickered, Dash yelled as you pushed her face into the cushion.

MAKING CURRY

"Do you know how to make rice?" you looked back at Dash following you into the kitchen.

"...In the microwave."

"Then, no. Can you cut vegetables?"

"Totally!" You walked to the refrigerator, pointing to the bottom shelf. "Pick your vegetables then. We'll make the curry together, and take out the chicken."

Opening the pantry, you took out the bag of rice you used for last week's curry. Because of all the farming you've done over the years, there were several bags - about five pounds each - waiting to be used.

As you walked behind Dash to get to the kitchen sink, you watched her choose a carrot stick, one large mushroom, and an onion as her vegetables.

Opening the cabinets under the sink, you grabbed a large bowl and a mesh drainer. Putting the latter into the bowl, you poured the rice in it, running everything under hot water.

"Get away from me," you joked as Dash stood unnecessarily close to you, prepared to cut the vegetables.

"Suck it up." She bumped her hip with yours, laughing as you actually stumbled. "You're so unbalanced."

"I'm actually going to fight you tonight." She still laughed, teasing you by waving her hand above her head to show how much taller she was than you.

"It's 4 inches," you flatly sneered.

"4 inches more than you," Dash smiled.
