this is so relaxing   —You were significantly smaller than the paddle board so you had room to lay down, even nap with a blanket if you wanted to. Dash, on the other hand, was moving around in the water, not too fond of being so stationary, but she occasionally rowed back to chat.

Such as now.

"Wanna play mermaids?" Despite all efforts against it, you bust out laughing, making Dash join you. She even put on a little kid accent; she has a talent for mocking people.

"What do you want?" You opened your eyes and took off your sunglasses, watching Dash get down and straddle her board. You both had already changed into bathing suits.

"Have you actually ever played mermaids?"

"No." She gasped.

"Bro, your childhood is so sad."

don't really have one actually. who knows how old my other self made current me when i teleported to Canterlot? i doubt i actually 'grew up.' my earliest memory is freshmen year   —You didn't make the atmosphere so gloomy with your thoughts. "You did?"

"Like, literally all the time. I was the blue one."

You smiled, "Oh, there's colors?"

"And powers. Now that I think about it, I predicted future me. My power was 'super swimming speed,' verbatim." You snort.

i'm glad she has memories she can look back on and smile   —Dash was excited to tell you all of these things, her cheeks blushing, but you wouldn't become too distracted. "How deep is the water?"

"Like 10 meters. Why?"

"I was just thinking about a shark eating your feet."

"...Why would you say that?" You laughed. "If I have to wrestle a magic, evil, talking shark, I'm blaming you and taking you with me."

"I think there's a pet stall around here, or, at least, those fish carnival games," you teased. "But I saw Fluttershy with a pink dog."

"...Actually, my mommy's calling me back, so I don't wanna play mermaids anymore." You begged Dash to stay through laughter when she started getting up, but didn't try to physically stop her so she didn't fall into the water. She actually hasn't yet.

"Attention, attendees!" A male voice boomed into the speakers around the lake. "Racing competitions will start in 10 minutes if you are interested! Please gather at the shore to be lined up and counted if that applies to you."

Dash gasped. "Wanna see if there's teams?"

"...Sure. I'll make you lose, though. I'm okay with just watching and being a cheerleader." Even now, you could see that a majority of those interested were men.

"Nah, you have me. We'll dominate." She put herself behind you as you got on your calves. Grabbing your paddle, you gently rowed.
