SEVERAL MINUTES LATER

"More," you gently command, watching Dash's hand hovering over a stick of butter. "You need 1/4 of a cup."

"I don't know what that looks like." You offered to make an indent but Dash would do the actual cutting.

"Put it in here." You point to the pot on medium heat on the stove.

She abide but questioned, "I thought we were making the curry together?"

"Yeah. I command, you do. Team effort." You smiled as she deadpanned. Ignoring her fury, you point to the onion she cut up.

"Get that and pour it in here. I'll stir since you have to keep going from high to low for a while."

"How long is a while?"

"Like 30 minutes. You can do the katsu and the actual liquid curry in the meantime. I'll tell you what to do."

"Get that butter again and cut the same amount I cut, but use the longer side. It should be 1/2 a cup."

"...This?" You looked over, nodding.

"Put it in this pot beside me, and then get one more half cup of flour. It's in the pantry."

"You do this every week?" Dash seemed a bit overwhelmed. This was likely her first time making a true meal.

You nod. "This is all happening at the same time when I cook, though." You watched her measure the flour before pouring it into the pot.

"Whisk it for... 30 seconds." Luckily, the clock on the stove has seconds. Dash watched the pot and the time simultaneously.

FINISHED COOKING
(I'm not teaching you how to make curry LOL)

"Relax," you softly laughed as you took Dash's hand to help her slice the katsu. "We're in a relationship now."

She gasped, although softly and with minimal body movement for there was a freshly sharpened knife in her hand. "We are?"

You nod. "You took me to dinner."

Your eyes widen as Dash set the knife down and quickly turned around. Slightly prepared to stop her from flicking you, or otherwise attacking you, your hands froze when she gently held your face and kissed your lips.

Her lips were incredibly soft, but to be fair, you didn't know how much this tenderness compared to a man for you and Ember's relationship never escalated past romantic hand-holding. While you relentlessly assured your father you were not 'a man's prey,' he ignored you with the same passion. He swore that he would rather die than let his 'innocent little girl' be tainted by 'a man's passion.' At your current moment, you wondered how this ideology faired against a woman.

"You okay?" Dash asked as she pulled away. Her kiss was short, extremely, but likely just to test the waters. However, Dash's blush was clear as day, but she could definitely say the same for you.

"...Yeah." She returned, but this time wasn't that much longer than the first. Still, you walked backward into the nearby counter for support, your arms wrapping around Dash's torso.

She seemed pleased when she pulled away for this last time. Her smile was both contagious and indomitable.

Dash kept you in her arms as she spoke, "When you... Whenever you told me we were actually dating, I told myself to.. kiss you then because if I didn't, I'd overthink it later."

"You don't have to explain yourself," you brushed her hair back. "It was nice."

"...Yeah." You laughed at her rigidness. Grabbing her hands, you resumed the cooperative katsu slicing.

"You don't go all the way?" Dash noticed how you stopped her from going too far.

"I don't, personally. You have to pick it up and put it in the bowl, so it's easier if it's connected by a little piece of skin and not all trying to fall off." You let go.

"Put the knife under the chicken." She abide. "Now hold the sides and put it in the middle of the food, where the rice and curry meet."

You took the knife when Dash officially finished her first bowl of katsu curry. "I can do mine. You should go find a show to watch, my room or the couch, I don't care."

"...I'd rather a bed, but I'll wait for you." She didn't have to wait long. From your experience, you cut the chicken and put it on your food in less than 30 seconds.

GOMOKU — 五目並べ

"What's... this?" You watched Dash's eyes frantically search for any rōmaji but she would find nothing.

"Gomoku, but this says gomokunarabe, which is Japanese for gomoku."

"Why's it longer?" You took all the components out when Dash brought the box to your bed. You gave her the black pieces so she had an advantage.

"Go means five, moku.. means pieces but specifically for counting, and narabe means line up. So 'Line Up Five Pieces.' It's shorter like how 'Four In A Row' can also be 'Connect Four.'" She seemed to understand.

"So it's Japanese Four in a Row but now five?"

"Basically, except you go in the... intersections." You point where two lines meet. "Not the boxes."

"Oh, that's easy. That's it?" You nod, making her confidently place her first bead.

You watched Dash study the board but she would soon realize no matter where she put her bead, you would win. In fact, she would be helping you if she blocked your horizontal path so you could go diagonally. Her throat lowly growling, she soon loudly groaned in annoyance, refusing to play.

"This is stu!-" She was interrupted by you grabbing a pillow and (lightly) hitting her face.

Dash silently stared at you. Slowly smiling as you prepared to get up and run, you screamed with laughter as Dash completely disregard the game and jumped across the bed. The beads shift from their places, some even falling off.

Dash grinned as she held your sides, tickling you with absolutely no remorse, but, eventually, she lost her mischief from your laughter filling the room.

She couldn't help but join you, "I thought you were 'genuinely fighting me tonight,' Princess?"

"I am!" you genuinely tried to get her hands off of you, but, not only was Dash considerably stronger than you, your uncontrollable squirming deeply influenced your grip strength.
