Sitting on a stool in Sunset's kitchen, you fiddled with Dash's hands, occasionally her wristbands, to keep calm. Sunset thought it was best she collected as much information as possible before requesting Princess Twilight's presence, so in between feeling your ears, testing your strength, and other enhancements, she took notes.

While some part of you wanted to tell everyone this wasn't that big of a deal - interrupting Twilight's royal duties seemed so dramatic honestly - the other half recognized this was a big issue and you wanted it gone immediately.

"So you're not a pony," Sunset smiled. "You're a canine, of some sort..."

"...Can I see your bracelet?" You gave her your wrist.

Sunset turned the jewelry until she found the first charm your father put on the bracelet: a white ball with red stripes.

"You told me about this, right? It was a hoshi-something?"

You nod, sniffling. "It's a hoshi no tama. Kitsune are.. actually from Japanese folklore. They lived closely with humans and can be cunning and 'evil' or good and messengers for gods. Most kitsune are generally mischievous but their intentions with that mischief determines their morality."

"In... modern society, Japanese still admire kitsune - and other cultures, especially the West. They're in a lot of media like video games, songs, and storybooks... We just think they're cool. They're very beautiful women when they shapeshift. I think they're really pretty."

You sighed, wiping your face. "This was the first charm my dad gave me; it's been there the longest. He also thinks kitsune are cool. He's from Kita City in Tokyo, where they're especially worshipped."

"Hm." Sunset wrote some things down in her journal.

"...I don't really know how to get magic out of people without defeating them," she smiled. "Your's is really passive, which makes sense, so I think we need Twilight now."

"But I also think we should stay here, in the human world, until we have to travel. We don't know what'll happen if you go to Equestria where magic is everywhere, so I'll tell her to come here."

She quickly finished writing. "Have you two eaten yet? I make a mean grilled cheese."

"I'll take one!" Dash smiled, but you shook your head.

"No thanks." Sunset stared at you for a few seconds but didn't try to change your mind.

"Come on." Dash grabbed your hand, taking you to the couch.

"...What's really wrong?" She turned to look at you. "I don't.. I'm not doubting how stressful this is for you, but why do you care so much now? Last week, you were begging me to stop worrying about it."

You neglect to answer, making Dash stare. "...Do you genuinely hate people showing that they care about you?" You shook your head.

"We're going outside, Sunset." Dash took your hand again, getting up.

"Oh, okay." Dash made sure to close the door.

You tried fiddling with her hands again but she pulled her arms away. Glancing up at her, you looked away from her judgmental gaze. Crossing your arms under your chest and hugging your sides, you gently swayed side to side.

"Look at me." While you refused at first, you would hesitantly shift your eyes over.

She smiled, "What's wrong? Talk to me."

You hated crying, absolutely hated it, but there was no chance that you could explain to Dash without turning into a puddle of tears. However, you attempted for her, but the inevitable occurred.

Unfolding your arms, you walked to her with nothing but shame. All you wanted was her embrace and to know everything was going to be okay. Unfortunately, you could only get one of those things at the moment.
