IT WAS FINALLY THE WEEKEND. Olivia Primrose had been itching to go surfing all week, and she was finally permitted to go. The girl had just started school at Kildare County High School that week, and to keep it short— it was dreadful. Being a new student, she caught many people giving her dirty looks, and being a redhead too? Well, that wasn't a good mix. Her hair could almost be classified as a burnt orange, but nevertheless, she was a redhead. It had never bothered her, and was one of the traits that she actually enjoyed about herself. Her blue eyes gave a nice contrast to the flaming hair, and the freckles that dotted her face gave her a youthful aura. The sixteen year old definitely attracted a lot of eyes, but she wasn't sure if it was a good or bad thing.

Olivia's first week of school had been exactly what she expected. The standard "Introduce yourself" and "Why did you move to the Outer Banks" took up most of her first day, and she was given some of the work she needed to catch up on. She was a fast learner and a smart student, earning her brownie points when she would raise her hand as the class sat in an awkward silence. What she was the most worried about, was the lunch period. Moving in with her aunt and uncle hadn't been the worst thing in the world, but there was no doubt in saying it could be better. Everyday without fail, Olivia would be sent with an apple and a PB&J sandwich. She would sit at the same table, in the far back corner of the cafeteria and usually do extra schoolwork or just doodle in her notebooks.

It wasn't until her fourth day when she felt eyes on her, and it wasn't just one set. The girl had been doodling away when she felt people staring at the side of her head, and with a scrunch of her eyebrows she turned to look at the culprits. She found four people sitting at a table not far from her, two of them facing her and the other two facing away. She watched as the three boys of the group quickly busied themselves as if they hadn't just been staring at the redhead. The girl though, who was facing Olivia, kept eye contact. She had caramel skin and beautiful curly hair that fell long past her shoulders. Olivia gave her a small smile and a two-finger salute, which the mystery girl returned. The girl returned to talking to her friends, and Olivia kept her gaze on them, watching how they all kept their heads down and used large hand gestures as they conversed.

The redhead found that there was a curly-haired brunet across from the girl who had smiled at her, a boy who she hadn't seen in any of her classes. Next to him, was a darker skinned boy with short hair, and Olivia quickly recognized him as a boy she'd seen in her English class after seeing his shirt. He seemed like a very smart boy, as he was always answering and asking questions whenever he could. Across from him and next to the girl was a blond boy, who was someone else she didn't seem to be familiar with. His hair flopped around as he spoke, the blond pieces falling into his eyes. As she took in his features, she noticed that he had caught her and they briefly made eye contact. She gave him a rushed smile as he tilted his head and then focused her view back onto her notebook. Olivia didn't look back at them for the rest of the lunch period, and when the bell rang for the next class, she bolted.
