MELTING THE GOLD SEEMED TO BE A HARDER TASK THAN INTENDED. The teens tried their best, but in the end it was just an awkward looking stack of gold bars that appeared to have been melted down. They traveled to the local pawn shop, following JJ in as he took the lead. The blond approached the woman behind the counter as the rest of them pretended to browse around the shop.

Liv only caught small snippets of their conversation. She walked a bit closer to some of the items on display as she heard JJ lie about his mom melting down her jewelry and having Alzheimer's, trying to contain herself.

The woman went to talk to her boss, leaving the teens alone for a second. Pope and John B went to whisper with JJ immediately, but the woman came back within a few minutes. She gave JJ a price— 50,000 dollars to be exact— but he refused. Liv heard him say "Ninety, or I walk," before the rest of his words became hushed.

Without Liv's knowledge, JJ tried to lie again to negotiate a better price. "Look, ma'am. That girl over there, the redhead." JJ pointed over to Liv, "That's my girlfriend. It's our anniversary soon, and I'm just trying to get her something real nice. Between us, I think I'm gonna ask her to marry me."

The woman raised her brows, glancing over to Liv again. "Seventy. Half price... and um, I don't ask questions about where you got this."

JJ agreed, and they got into another small tiff about getting the money in cash. Kiara moved over to Liv, whispering to her as JJ continued to speak to the woman. "Yo, why did JJ call you his girlfriend?"

Liv looked over, annoyance in her expression. "Again? God," She scoffed, going back to looking at the items.

"What— what do you mean again, Liv?" She questioned, grabbing the redhead's elbow as their friends started to leave the shop.

"He did that back at the salvage yard too. Glad it helps him get what he wants, I guess." Liv shrugged, gesturing for Kiara to get into the van before her. Kiara shook her head and hopped in, taking a seat next to Pope. There were no more seats left for Liv as now that they had an extra person joining them, so she went to sit on the floor.

The girl leaned against the back of the passanger seat, watching the light bounce off of the gold in JJ's hands.

They had been driving for quite a bit of time when Pope asked, "So they keep money out here?" He looking out the window, observing the area. Most of the scenery was trees, with a few run-down houses sprinkled in here and there.

"That's what she said." JJ nodded, then laughed to himself and repeated his own words, "That's what she said."

"Stop," Pope glared at him.

JJ stopped laughing and looked over to Liv who was trying to hold back a smile. He fought the urge to reach over and grab her fidgeting hands or brush back the hair that had fallen in front of her face.

"There's nothing but weeds back here," Kiara pointed out.

"All right, just cause it's just weeds, doesn't mean it's— like..."
