LIV WISHED SHE WAS ANYWHERE BUT KITTY HAWK. Specifically, she wished she was with her boyfriend and friends on the way to South America. Instead, she had been sent off to an adventure therapy camp.
But we can't all have what we want.
Seeing the multitude of girls working relentlessly around the camp was sickening. There was no way Hazel actually thought she needed to come here.
The redhead sat quietly outside of the coordinators office as Kiara was spoken to inside. She could feel eyes on her at all times, like the people there were worried she'd try to get up and sprint off. She'd also put on a t-shirt and shorts set that was mandatory for the girls there, so she fit in with all of the others.
About ten or fifteen minutes had passed before Kiara exited the room. The two men standing outside with Liv had gone into the room just moments before, and were dragging her out now. She gave Liv a discouraged expression, then was quick to get taken off by one of the men guarding them. The woman who had been talking to Kiara approached the doorframe.
"Olivia, come on inside."
Liv followed the instruction and sat in one of the chairs facing a large desk. The woman closed the door behind her and then went on to sit behind the desk. "So, would you like to explain to me what caused you to end up here at Kitty Hawk?"
"Don't you already know?" Liv questioned.
"Well, Olivia, I like to hear both sides of the story," The woman smiled as she folded her hands together.
With her gaze down, Liv explained the situation. Mostly just about how there had been some times where she'd run off with her friends and didn't tell her aunt.
"Thank you for sharing with me. Now, the good news is that we do have a name for your condition," She explained briefly.
"Condition?" Liv's brows furrowed.
"ODD. Or, oppositional defiant disorder. It appears to be exactly what your friend Kiara is suffering from," The woman gestured to the door slightly as she mentioned Kiara.
Liv pulled her mouth to the side. "What exactly is that?"
"Consistent opposition to authority." Liv almost scoffed at the woman's words, but she bit her tongue. "Fortunately, it's actually very treatable with medication."
"I don't know if I should be taking meds—"
"Ah, see? That just further proves my diagnosis. Now, because you're new here, and your friend seems to have a very severe diagnosis, we're sending you both to the reflection cabin," The woman stated, standing up from her chair. "We don't usually do this, but I have a feeling you two are very similar."
Liv wanted to run. She wanted to push her way through the guards and run away and find JJ.
But she stayed still.
The woman motioned for one of the men to take Liv off, and all she could do was follow slowly as she was directed to a cabin. She was thrown in and then had the door slammed behind her, with the distinct sound of a lock clicking on the other side.
"Liv?"
Kiara's soft, broken tone made the redhead turn slowly to see the curly-haired girl sitting on the edge of a bed. "Kie," Liv sighed as her friend stood and moved to embrace her in a tight hug.
