IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER, JUST AFTER FINALS. The Pogues had an end-of-year celebration at the Chateau, the yard packed as ever with a majority of the school there. Being new ( ish ), Liv had tried to talk to people other than her main friend group. It proved to be successful when the girl found herself standing on a folding chair with a group of kids surrounding her.
Liv ended up giving a very heartfelt speech about going into junior year— and then chugged a beer.
The next morning, Liv woke up on John B's pullout couch alone. She had no idea how she'd gotten there, as most of the night was a blur, and her head was killing her. She sat up, cringing at the feeling of her clothes clinging to her body. Liv groaned as she ran her hands over her face and rubbed her eyes. The muffled sound of a bed creaking filled her ears, and she immediately knew what it was.
Shoving her head back into a pillow, Liv tried to shut out any sort of noises coming from the guest bedroom. Liv loved her best friend, she really did, but did they really need to go for a round two in the morning?
Thankfully the noises stopped after a little while, and Liv was able to relax. That was until the bedroom door opened, and the redhead had to pretend to be asleep. She could hear soft giggles coming from the girl and a series of shushing from JJ. Liv tried to regulate her breathing to make it seem as if she was asleep, which happened to work out in her favor.
"Oh! Was she out here the whole time?" The girl's voice was shocked and quiet.
"Yeah, but she was knocked out last night," JJ responded. "Seems she still is."
"Well..." The girl drawled. "I'll see you around?"
It was as if Liv could feel JJ tensing. "Look, uh— you're real nice. But I don't think..."
The girl huffed, her mouth dropping open. "Seriously? Whatever."
The sound of the front door opening and basically slamming shut reverberated through the house. Liv couldn't help but flinch at the loud noise, blowing her cover to JJ. The blond smirked at the sight of the girl's auburn hair sprawled across the pillows. He snuck over to her and bent down so he was just next to her ear. "Morning, Livvy."
JJ reached a hand out to squeeze Liv's waist, making the girl shriek and turn towards him. "Seriously?" She pouted, calling back to the girl who'd left not even minutes prior.
"Yeah, yeah," JJ shook his head, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Can't please everyone."
"Seems like she was pretty pleased before you rejected her."
JJ gasped dramatically, placing his hand over his heart. "Olivia Primrose! What's gotten into you?"
Liv rolled her eyes as she maneuvered herself to sit criss-crossed next to him. "Oh, nothing," She shrugged, running her hands over her thighs. "Are the others here?" She asked, trying to change the subject. The girl didn't want to talk about sex and hookups anymore, even though she did continuously tease him about it.
