PAIN. That's all Liv felt when she woke up the next day. Her vision slowly became clearer as the light shone brightly in the room. It seemed whiter than usual. She felt uncomfortable in her own bed.

When she looked around, she noticed she was definitely not at her house.

The white walls and white sheets covering her body were much too bright, making Liv squint as she took in her surroundings. She looked down at her arm, seeing an IV pump attached to her, the steady beeping from her right now making sense. Liv tried to calm her breathing, knowing that she was safe and at least alive.

Hazel had been sitting in a chair next to her bed, and was silently waiting for the girl to notice her before she spoke up. "Hi, sweetie," She said softly as Liv focused on her.

"Hi?" Liv's voice was hoarse, and her throat felt dry as she responded. "I'm in the hospital..." She almost whispered, disbelief in her tone.

"Yes. I'm so sorry, Olivia. I had no idea Tom would do that. I should've known, he'd been drinking before we came to pick you up—"

Liv shook her head, saying, "No, no. It's okay, really."

After a beat of silence, Hazel took the young girl's hand. "I spoke to the police. He was taken away at the house. He's never going to be in our lives again, that's for sure."

"Thank you." The redhead felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes.

"The police are on their way to question you, though. You think you can do that?" Hazel asked, her brows knitted together. When Liv nodded, the woman smiled. "You know, there's a boy that's been sitting in the waiting room. He refuses to leave. Blond hair, seems like a sweet kid. He seems very worried for you, his name is JJ, right? Is there anything I need to know about?"

Liv felt her cheeks become red, but she didn't hide it. "No, Hazel. We're just friends. He doesn't like me like that."

"All right, sweetie. Whatever you say," Her aunt teased, squeezing Liv's hand before leaning back into her seat.

When the doctor came in to tell Liv how injured she was— thankfully, she barely escaped having a concussion— Hazel could barely keep herself together. The woman felt awful, and seeing Liv with bruises all over her wasn't easy. In the end, Liv was left with a couple bruises on her stomach, and a few on her face. One covering her cheekbone, one on her jaw, and one just on her temple. She was told she would see the bruises fade over the next 2-3 weeks. That was just around when the new school year would start, so she was grateful for that.

After the doctor, it was time for the police questioning. With a heavy heart, Liv explained the entire situation. She went back to how he started abusing her a long time ago, and she was too scared to speak up about it. She told them it wasn't always her being beaten, but something much worse. The female officer was the one asking her questions, which she was glad about, and she was very gentle with Liv when asking.

Finally, after a long hour of answering questions, Liv was done. She laid her head back, closing her eyes as she took in a deep breath. She thought about how she'd been out for almost half a day. She thought about JJ and Kiara and Pope, and how she really just wanted to be with them. She thought about how not even 24 hours ago, John B and Sarah were lost at sea.
