I had no idea what I was doing.

Maybe this was a mistake. If he cared about me, he would try harder. No, do this Lacey, not for him but for you.

And so, I knocked harshly on the apartment door, yet immediately regretted my decision. Now I would look like a total idiot for coming to him. The door opened and I gasped.

"Uh - hi." Zayn was without a shirt.

Is this how he greets everyday people? A shudder of something - I couldn't tell - came over me when I realized that other girls have probably seen him like this.

As an honest friend, I wasn't going to lie and say that he didn't look sexy. It was currently half past 9 and he must have been sleeping, his hair was messy but his eyes looked wide awake.

"Hi." I muttered and he motioned for me to go on, but I couldn't. What was I supposed to say?

'Hey, I'm here because I missed you and I need my best friend; I'm even willing to forgive how fucked up you acted when you tried to beat up Aaron.' No, that's not going to cut it. And that wasn't even the whole thing.

I saw motion behind him that made my heart stop and my eyes widen. Ivy walked up behind him, in just a flannel - his flannel, wrapping her arms around his bare waist from behind. I bit my lip, feeling as though I could pierce it.

"Lacey?! What the fuck are you doing here?" As soon as Ivy realized that she had Zayn, she didn't even pretend to like me after I had helped her get ready for her first date with him.

Zayn snapped his head around to glare at her in disapproval at her greeting.

"Um, I-I don't know. Obviously this is a bad time." I stuttered at the sight in front of me. Neither of them had cared to cover up, flaunting themselves in front of me.

As I turned around, I caught in my peripheral vision Ivy kissing Zayn's neck, but he pushed her off. I refused to look back and started to walk away, ashamed that I had just embarrassed myself like that. This was stupid, Zayn doesn't need to know. Maybe I am right to not tell him.

"Lacey! Wait! Stop!" Zayn's desperate sounding voice called for me and I turned around to see him fixing a muscle tank top over his head to cover his chest while running after me. Not wanting to face him anymore, my feet picked up speed and I ran out of the building.

"I said stop!" He exclaimed angrily, now right behind me. I had obviously lost this chase, and so I obeyed, turning around to meet his golden irises. He grabbed my wrists to stop me from moving anywhere, and there we stood in the warm late April air. His grip was firm but I wasn't going to move away from him anyways. Any minute now, Ivy would come running out throwing her normal tantrum. I waited in silence, like him. But she never came.

"She isn't coming." Zayn assured me, trying to meet my averted eyes.

"Okay. Sorry," I muttered. He must've have told her that he was going after me, and to leave us alone to talk. That probably didn't make her too happy. He was risking his relationship with a madwoman for me, when I didn't even want to stand between them.

"I told you this already, Lacey. You take my priority." Zayn said, running his free hand through his messy hair, trying to fix it.

"Now I guess I do."

"Really? Now?! What have I done in the past, Lacey, to disprove that statement till now? Was saying no to Ivy for you all it took?!" He became angry.

This was not how it was supposed to go. Then again, when do things ever go as planned? I obviously didn't plan this; I had excluded all rational thought when I came to see him. But, when it comes to Zayn, there's no such thing as rational thoughts with me.
