Chapter 39
Tracy POV
"What the hell do you think you are doing, Tracy?" Tyler yells at the top of his voice as he barges into my room and finds me sitting on the floor with a bottle of alcohol in my hand. Guess who has been drinking the past few days? Well, it's me. How the hell am I not supposed to drink when my life is messed up? My parents who are supposed to be protecting me suddenly abandoned me and hated me because I refused to be with the man they want me with. Who does that to their child?
"I am talking to you, Tracy. What the fuck are you doing to yourself?" Tyler yells for the second time, snatching the bottle from me.
"I told you to leave me the hell alone, Tyler... I told you to mind your business and let me be, didn't I?" I yell at him, as I manage to stand up to my feet, but I stagger and fall to the bed as tears stream down my eyes.
"Are you out of your mind? Do you want to kill yourself..."
"What do you care? What the fuck do you care if I choose to drink myself to death? Nobody cares about me, anyway," I run my fingers through my hair, grabbing a handful of my hair and pulling it aggressively like I want to pull it off my scalp. It hurts... It hurts that my parents who were once my closest persons are now distant.
"Do you know what you look like now? You look so stupid, and fuck you, Tracy! Are you going to kill yourself because mom is being unreasonable? Ren has already moved on, what is your problem?" He yells at me.
"He has moved on, but what about me? Mom doesn't want me to... She fucking wants me to stick with a cheat all because of her selfish desire. What the hell am I supposed to do, Tyler?" I break down in tears, and he sighs briefly. He finally walks to me, and I hug him while I cry on his shoulder.
"It hurts," I keep crying as I hug him tightly.
"Everything is going to be fine, I promise," He whispers as he slowly pats my back. He has been the only one that cares about me, he's the only that has been by my side all these while and made sure that I was not depressed.
"Come on, Tracy. Why don't you have your bath and let's get some fresh air? Just take this as me taking you out on a date. I promise to treat you right," He pulls away from me and smiles at me, and I chuckle softly. He always has his way of making me happy.
"I'm in," I reply to him.
"Fine. I will order some cloth for you. We'll be going in an hour. See you later," He winks at me before he finally stands up from the bed and strides out of my room, closing the door gently behind him.
'Ren' his name ring in my head, and a drop of tears slid down my cheek. I can't believe that he was the same man I used to be so in love with, the man my world used to revolve around, but he messed everything up the moment he started cheating on me. It wasn't my fault that things turned out this way.
Pushing all the thoughts to the back of my mind, I stand up from the bed and drag myself into the bathroom to have my bath, which only lasts for thirty minutes, and walk back into my room to get dressed.
My lips curve into a smile when I spot the red beautiful short gown laying on the bed, with a pair of red heels on the floor. Wow! Did Tyler order that just for me? His taste is not bad, and I must confess that his girlfriend will be very lucky to have him.
After rubbing cream to my skin and doing my usual routine of applying makeup to my beautiful face, I finally slid into the beautiful dress which suits me perfectly like it was tailored for me.
"Wow!" I gush over my look once I see my reflection in the mirror.
Finally grabbing the red purse that accompanied the dress, I glance at my reflection one more time in the mirror before I finally stride out of the room, my heels clicking the floor as I walk along the hallway.
Descending down the staircase minutes later, Tyler smiles widely at me.
"Wow! You look extremely gorgeous, Tracy," He winks at me, and I roll my eyes at him.
"I'm not your girlfriend, sweetheart. Don't forget that," I remind him, and he chuckles softly as he reaches out for my hand, and intertwine his fingers with mine.
"Sadly, you're not. If you were my girlfriend, I wouldn't dare break your heart," He says to me, and I feel my heart misses a beat as memories of the past come flooding into my mind, breaking my heart into pieces. Ren once said that to me, he told me he was never going to break my heart, but he did severally before I go so tired and couldn't take the pain anymore. I guess men are just naturally cheats, or maybe it was just my bad luck that my fate was intertwined with Ren.
"Come on, don't be like that. Let's go already," His voice pulls me out of my train of thought, and I nod my head. He must've noticed that I had spaced out.
"You're not looking bad too. Come on, let's get going already," I say to him, and he nods his head before he leads us to the exit door, and soon, he's already driving down the road. Since it's almost 8pm, the road is kind of free of traffic jams.
"What are you thinking about?" Seeing him so focused on the road with an unreadable expression on his face, I get so curious that I end up asking him. I know that look on his face, and I know that something is going on in his mind.
"Nothing. I'm just missing something," He glances at me and focuses on the road again. Now, I'm getting curious. What is he missing?
"What is that?" Curiosity eating me up, I ask him.
"Your genuine smile... Your genuine laughter, I miss all of it. I miss the lively Tracy," He says, and I slowly drop my head as I fight hard to fight the tears back into my eyes.
Silence assumes the air as I stare out through the window. What do I have to say? Absolutely nothing, so it's better I just remain silent.
Arriving at the restaurant after about twenty minutes of driving, he parks neatly at the garage and steps out of the car. I watch as he rushes over to where I'm sitting and pulls the door open for me.
"Don't do anything today, and just allow me to spoil this gorgeous lady," He winks at me, and I roll my eyes as I step out of the car. I tuck my thick black lengthy hair behind my ear and look around the place for a few seconds. Although it's my first time being to this restaurant, I must confess that this place is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to, I just hope that the food here will also be worth it, just like the exterior design.
We proceed toward the entrance door with Tyler holding my hand gently like a perfect and gentle boyfriend. Who would think that this gentleman is not my boyfriend, but my brother?
Stepping into the restaurant, he lead me to the VIP section where we meet the table already stuck with food and drinks of different types, and it dawn on me that he must've made the arrangements before we came here.
In a few minutes, we settle down and start eating. Well, the food here is not bad, although it doesn't match up with the restaurants I've tried before. They are unique in their way, I must say. I mean, they can't all possibly have the same rating, yeah?
"So, tell me, what do you plan to do?" Tyler breaks the awkward silence after a few minutes, and I raise my gaze to glance at him. I've never really thought of that since I have been busy thinking about what happened.
"I've not decided that yet," I shrug, hoping that he stops the question there. I'm not in the mood to answer questions now.
"Wow! Why don't you ask me a question instead? I feel like this date will be boring without talking about something interesting," He says to me, and I roll my eyes.
"When are you going to get a girlfriend, Tyler?" I ask him, and I bet the look on his face explains it all. He is probably not ready for that. Although I don't know much about his relationship life, but I haven't really seen him with any woman, so I'm not sure if he has a girlfriend and hiding her, or not.
"I'm not ready for that," He replies to me flatly, and I nod my head.
"Do you have anyone in mind?" I ask him, and he shakes his head sharply, but the look on his face doesn't look like he's telling me the truth.
"Are you..." His phone suddenly starts ringing, and I pause for him to take his call.
"Excuse me, Tracy. I need to go to the restroom," He quickly grabs his phone and stands up to his feet. The look on his face is suspicious, he looks like he's up to something, or maybe he's hiding something, but what it is, I have no clue about it.
I stare in the direction he ran off to, having lots of thoughts lingering in my mind, but then something distracts me. It's a familiar cologne which I will never cease to know who it belongs to. Wait! Is he here?
Anxious to confirm my curiosity, I look around the place, but stop abruptly when I finally spot him. It's Ren! I couldn't have mistaken his cologne for someone else. Wait! He's not alone, but with a young slim lady, he's so engrossed in talking with.
"Is that one of his flings?" I ask myself as I continue to stare at him, and just when I'm about to look away, he tilts his head, and our eyes meet...
