Chapter 47
Tracy POV
"Is either you get married to Ren, or nobody else. Can't you see that I'm doing this for you?" Mom snaps at me as she slams her hands on the center table in my room, glaring hard at me like she would devour me if I'm not careful.
"Can you just stop, mom? Why are you doing this?" Tears stream down my cheeks as I yell at her angrily. I've been trying to keep calm all these while, thinking she would eventually stop, but she keeps getting worse each day that passes by, and it's driving me crazy. My life has been so peaceful since she was not around all these while, and now that she's back, I feel like committing suicide.
"What kind of a mom are you? Other moms are doing everything in their power to make sure that their children are happy, and you're here threatening me, and forcing me to do things all because it's what you want. What the hell are you so desperate about? Because of his wealth? You and dad are wealthy enough, you are also blessed. Can you stop doing this?" I scream at her, and she scoffs.
"You will understand my point when you become a mom. I am doing this for your sake..."
"You're not doing it for me, but for your selfish desire..." My voice trails off as a hot slap I was expecting lands across my cheek, and another set of fresh tears stream down my cheeks.
"Mom..."
"Now, listen to me. I am going to talk to Ren on your behalf, and you need to go see him as soon as possible. You two need to make peace together, and..."
"And what makes you think that I will do what you want? I am an adult, and I know what I want. You can't always force me to do what you want. I won't agree to that anymore... I won't..."
"Don't try nonsense with me, Tracy. I am your mom, and you better do what I asked you to do if you don't want to get on my bad side!" She screams at me, and I bite my bottom lip as more tears stream down my cheeks. I think the only thing I can do is yell, and nothing else. I can't even fight for myself. My right to freedom is being violated, and I can't even defend myself.
"I will tell you when you should meet him. I'm going to call him now," She says to me before she turns and walks out of the room, slamming the door behind her.
Slumping on my bed, I break down in tears. My heart feels heavy like it's carrying a load. Of course, it is. The burden on it is enough to make it this heavy. Even if I want to look for a way to stop her, there's nothing I can do about it, than just give up trying. Maybe this is my fate. Maybe I was destined to spend the rest of my life with someone I have no feelings for.
Before she would call him, I decide to call him by myself and let him know that I will accept him back, because why not? I don't want him to feel like my mom is forcing me later, and he would end up saying no to her, which only means more pain for me. He would believe me if it comes from me.
Reaching out for my phone that's laying on the bedside table, I type in his number and dial it. I still have his number saved in my head, even though I deleted it from my phone. I mean, we've been together for years before we broke up, so it's only right that I know his number off-hand, right?
The call rings for seconds before he answers the phone, and I bite my bottom lip.
"Hello," I utter.
"Tracy?" Hearing his voice makes me want to throw up because he disgusts me so much. Imagine how I will feel later, staying under the same roof with this same person. I may die before my time.
"Let's meet and talk," I say to him, and silence reigns in the other end before he finally speaks up.
"Alright," He replies to me, and I sigh briefly. He must've been shocked to hear that from me. I mean, I've been avoiding him, and it's quite shocking for me to call and ask us to meet, out of nowhere.
"I will send you the address of the place I want you to meet me," I say to him before I end the call, not giving him the chance to reply to me.
Taking a deep breath, I stand up and stride out of my room, heading downstairs where I know my mom would be in the living room now. Just as I suspected, I spot her sitting on one of the couches as I descend the staircase a few minutes later.
"I called him already. I told him that I would send him the address we should meet. There's no need to bother to call him again," I say to her once I get to the living room, and she pulls a puzzled look as she stares at me. I know she doesn't believe me.
"And you want me to believe you?" She scoffs, and I roll my eyes.
"You can take my phone and check my call log," I drop my phone on the center table and push it to her front. I watch as she stares at me for seconds before she finally reached out for the phone, and searches for it. The wide smile that spreads on her lips as she stares at the screen makes me feel irritated.
"That's my girl. This is what I want you to do, and we won't have a problem. Don't worry, I'm going to get you nice and sexy cloth that you'll wear for the date," She squeaks excitedly as she hurries to sit with me on the couch, stroking my hair. It's painful how this makes her so happy, and she can't even treat me right.
"Hmm. I'll be in my room," I nod my head before I stand up and head to the staircase. Why am I so unlucky? My parents who are supposed to love me don't even care about me or my happiness and welfare.
As I walk into my room a few minutes later, I crash against the wall and break down in tears, not after I lock the door behind me.
"Welcome to a new phase of your life, Tracy. This is your fate, and you should embrace it," I whisper as I grab a handful of my hair, pulling it slowly...
