Hurt

Chapter 10
The blurry ceiling welcomes her as she forces her eyelids to move slowly. She stays still for a few seconds, trying to get used to the strange room she finds herself when she hears a familiar voice speaking with the doctor.
Her heart wrenches and she curses under her breath as she closes back her eyes. She didn't want to wake up to see him with her again, this is how much she despises him so much. 
"You're awake?" Hearing his voice throws her off her patience, and she takes a deep breath as she finally forces her eyes open. No doubt that she's in the hospital, and it's clear to her how she ended up here. 
"What are you doing here?" Her voice sounds cold and angry as she turns her face away like she doesn't want to see him. Yes, she doesn't want to see him around her, she hates him so much that she can't even stand his presence. He disgusts him. 
"What are you saying, Tracy?" Confused, Ren asks as he slowly reaches out for her hand, but she yanks his hand away, as she finally manages to sit up on the bed, ignoring the pain that shoots through his head. 
"Leave..." She points to the door, glaring hard at him with resentment, and he springs up to his feet while having a confused expression on his face. Does she not remember him again after the accident? 
"It's me, Ren... Are you OK? Do you need me to get the doctor?" His lips tremble as he tries to touch her, but her deadly glare makes him stop and gulps down nothing nervously. 
"I said leave!" Her voice sounds one more time, and he sighs briefly before he walks out of the ward, even if he doesn't want to. 
Staring at the closed door, tears trickle down the corner of her cheeks as she slowly clenches her fists and grits her teeth. He's the reason she's in this much pain. She can't believe that her life used to revolve around this man, she can't still comprehend why she now hates him so much when her heart used to belong to him, but the answer is not difficult to point out. Apparently, no woman would still be around a man that cheats on her often. 
This was never how she planned her life, she wanted a peaceful life, but Ren had done nothing but ruin everything for her. He ruined the love she had for him and broke her trust. He broke the bond they shared, and the sight of him now disgusts her. 
The door suddenly bursts open while she's still lost in thoughts, and she snaps her head to see her worried parents rushing in. 
"My baby... You're awake?" She rolls her eyes and turns her face away. Her life is in this state because of them. They were the ones that have been forcing her into this relationship even when they knew that she was no longer interested in it. Because of them, she got into an accident that almost claimed her life. 
"Tracy... I'm sorry that I wasn't with you. Ren has been here since yesterday when this happened. We have been trying to get your brother from police custody," Her dad, Mr. Williams tries to explain to her, but she only scoffs and rolls her eyes. Although she is sad about what happened, a part of her is also happy that it happened, anyway. If her brother hadn't gotten into the accident, who knows? Maybe she would've been stuck with Ren for the rest of her life now. 
Just when she was almost ready for the wedding yesterday, she got a call that her only brother got into trouble and was arrested. She didn't hesitate to rush to the place, and when she wanted to cross the road, she was hit by a car which almost ended her life. 
"Hmm," She only hums. Maybe she would've gotten something better to say if he had not mentioned Ren, but now it's a big turn-off for her. 
"Are you good? Do you need me to get you something to eat? Do you want me to call Ren for you?" Her mom asks, sitting on the edge of the bed. 
"I sent him out," She replies to her sarcastically like what she just said is not a big deal. 
"You did what? Why?" Her mom pulls a puzzled look like she just committed a huge crime. 
"I don't want him around me, I..."
"What do you mean by you don't want him around you? Do you know the troubles you have caused for him in these recent days?" Her mom springs up to her feet. 
"What troubles? I am the one lying on the hospital bed here, I am the one that had my life on the line... I was the one that got..."
"And he has been there for you all these days. He never left your side, and made sure that he found someone to donate blood for you when you almost lost your life..."
"Honey, please calm down..."
"Don't tell me to calm down. This girl needs to know the right thing to do," She snaps at her husband immediately, turning her attention to Tracy afterward. 
"I don't care how you're going to do it, but you need to do the right thing," Her mom snaps at her, and the tears she has been fighting back finally find their way down her cheeks. It hurts that her mom doesn't even care about her, all she cares about is her getting married to the wealthiest and most influential man in the state, all she wants is to fulfill her dream of being an in-law to Ren, and she never cared about how she would feel. 
"And what is the right thing you want me to do? Go on my knees and worship him?" She scoffs and bites her bottom lip. All these while, she has been trying to respect her mom and always did whatever she wanted, but this is the height of it all. There's no way she would fold her arms and watch her do this to her anymore. 
"Tracy!" Her mom snaps at her. 
"What? Are you my mom, or maybe I was adopted and you have been lying to me all this while?" She scoffs again, jerking her head sideways. 
"Even if I was adopted, I deserve to be treated like the human that I am. All you care about is your happiness, have you ever cared about mine? All you want is for me to get married to Ren because you want to be In-law to him, have you ever stopped to think of how I feel about this whole damn thing?" She snaps angrily as more tears stream down her cheeks. 
"No... You keep pushing me even..."
"Don't you dare put all the blame on me, Tracy. You brought him home and introduced him to us. You told us you two are in love, and we gave you our consent to go ahead with the relationship," Her mom reminds her. 
"And after then? You desperately want me to end up with him even knowing how he has hurt me. I reported to you how many times he has cheated on me, and..."
"And he apologized. He apologized to you, and you moved on with the relationship..."
Because you wanted me to move on with it. I told you that I wanted to quit, but you never allowed me. You told me that I have to do this, no matter the challenges I face along the line... What have I ever done to you?" She yells this time before she turns her gaze to her dad. 
"Dad... Why can't you fight for me for once? Why can't you stand by me and fight for my right? Am I not your child?" The pain in her eyes as she stares at him makes him turn his face away. 
"I didn't come here to watch those pathetic tears in your eyes. You should get well and move in with Ren. The wedding has been finalized regardless of your absence. Don't make this difficult more than it is already," Her mom says to her before she storms out of the ward, slamming the door behind her...
