    Chapter 54

    Tracy POV

Ren seems to have changed from the way he used to be, and I have been feeling weird around him. The past few days I have spent with him have changed my decision of leaving him. Yes, I know this is crazy to suddenly want someone I cast away, but I can't help it.

At first, I wanted to just marry him for the sake of my mom, but now, that is no longer my intention. I want to marry him for real now, even though it sounds crazy.

Sitting in the restaurant and waiting for Tyler since I called him earlier to meet me here, many thoughts came rushing through my mind, which is not limited to Ren.

"Did I keep you waiting?" Tyler's voice pulls me back to reality, and I snap my head up to see him already sitting in front of me, staring at me with the usual expression on his face.

"No, you didn't," I shake my head, and he nods his head too.

"It has been a while. How have you been faring in that man's house? It has been quite hard, isn't it?" He sighs deeply, and I bit my bottom lip as I look away. I don't even know what to say to him. He would be very mad at me if he finds out that I planned on getting married to Ren, but still, I don't want to hide it from him.

"Hmm," I nod my head, regardless.

"Is there a problem? You don't look ok," He raises his eyebrows as he stares at me with a questioning expression on his face.

"Uhm... I told Ren to let's get married," I finally speak up, but he stares at me for seconds before he scoffs and reclines on the chair.

"Are you kidding me?" He scoffs again, and when I shake my head, he finally leans forward.

"You must be joking around, Tracy, or maybe out of your mind, I'm sorry to say that. Because if you are not, you wouldn't say you want to get married to that scumbag," He slams his hand on the table, and I sigh briefly.

    "He has changed, Tyler..."

"Changed? What are you saying, Tracy? What the heck did that bastard do to you? Ren can never change, and even if he does, he still isn't the right man for you..."

"But I think I can feel the spark between us now. I think I'm starting to like him, and I just need some more time to fall in love with him again..."

"This is bullshit, Tracy. Have you forgotten what this man did to you? You called the fucking engagement off because you couldn't stand him. What the heck has gotten into you now? You have only been with him for one week, so how the heck is one week enough to know if someone if they have changed?" He utters, and I sigh briefly.

    "Tyler..."

"This wasn't our plan, Tracy. We didn't plan to do this shit, and you know it!" He cuts me off as he runs his fingers through his hair, looking frustrated. We planned to make life a living hell for him until he asks me to leave, but I don't even know what I want anymore.

"I know... Can you let me give this a chance?" I know I shouldn't be asking for his opinion or decision on this, but he is the only one that was there for me when my mom neglected me. He deserves to know everything going on with me.

"Give marriage with Ren a chance? That is crazy. Do you even know what marriage is? Do you think it's a joke? We are talking about the person you will spend the rest of your life with... You know mom, she won't ever allow you to get a divorce if things go bad in the future," He has a point, but too bad that my mind is already made up.

"I will fix it, Tyler. I will take care of everything, and I promise you that everything will be fine later. That is a promise," I hold his hand and caress it gently. I know he doesn't like this, but he might just have to agree to this later. This is what I want.

"I have always supported every decision you made, Tracy, but this particular one doesn't just make sense, and I'm scared you would get yourself hurt later. He is going to break your heart..."

"Come on, Tyler. Can you look at the bright side of this? Everything will be fine, and I believe that, ok?" I cut him off, and he stares at me for seconds before he slowly nods his head.

I finally leave the restaurant after a few minutes and drive to Ren's company. I arrive in exactly twenty minutes, and I pull over at the parking lot before I head to his office. I have just been here a couple of times when we were still dating back then, and I kinda know my way around here.

When I arrive at his office later, I meet his secretary in the office.

"Do you have an appointment with him, ma'am?" The secretary asks me, and I smile at him softly.

"Not really. I'm here to give him a surprise visit. I'm his fiancee," I reply to him, and he raises his eyebrows as he stares at me for seconds before he finally nods his head

"He's in," And with that, I turn and head to his office. Pushing the door open, I walk in on him standing by the window side and talking to someone on the phone.

He turns to face me after three minutes, and his eyes dilate in shock once he sees me standing. He must be shocked to see me.

"Hi," I greet him, and he slowly nods his head.

"What are you doing here?" He asks as he blinks his eyes at me rapidly.

"I just came so we can have lunch together. It's almost your lunchtime," I reply to him after I check my wristwatch.

"Lunch? I don't have lunch in the office," He drawls as he stares at me, probably still trying to recover from the shock.

"That's fine. I will get something to eat then," I drop my bad on the table and turn to leave.

"Just sit and say why you are here. I'm not hungry," He utters as he finally sits on his chair, and I sigh briefly as I pull out the chair and sit on it.

Silence creeps in as we both stare at each other, and I know he must be waiting for me to start the conversation, which I'm going to do, of course!

"Let's start all over again, Ren... Let's get to know each other again, date... I'm ready to give it a few months... And let's get married for real afterward..."

"Come on, Tracy. You didn't come all the way here to tell me that, did you? I thought we already talked about this. I told you we can't get married... I can't be with someone that doesn't love..."

"Yes, I don't love you enough yet to want to spend the rest of my life with you, but I just need some time to figure things out. I...I...I want to fall in love with you again, Ren. I want us to leave the past behind, and make a future together," I slowly hold his hands on the table, while he just stares at me with shock written all over him.

"Are you kidding me, Tracy?" He blinks his eyes rapidly at me, and I sigh.

"No, I'm not," I shake my head, and this time, he retracts his hands from my grasp, reclining on the chair afterward.

    "We can't get married, Tracy..."

"Why can't we get married?" I ask him.

"I'm not polygamous, Tracy. I'm married to Lilian... The lady you saw on the internet. I really married her for real," My heart drops at the sound of that, and I gulp down nothing as I feel my heart pounding hard against my chest.

"You...you didn't marry her. She was just a stand-in bride," I shake my head.

"Yes, she was just a substitute for you... But I fell for her... She has my heart now, and I'm going to marry her again," He replies to me, and I slowly tighten my finger into a fist.

    "Ren..."

"I'm sorry, but this can't really work," He shakes his head, and I gulp down the lump that formed in my throat. Did I just get rejected?
