Chapter 56
Ren POV
I touch my lip for the umpteenth time and smile excitedly like a teenager that just had his first kiss with his crush. I didn't know what came over me, but the only thing I could think of when I saw her was to kiss her, because I have really missed her so much.
The last three months without her by my side have been the worst days of my life, and when I couldn't take it anymore, I had to put everything on hold and travel down here to see her, but I couldn't have told her about it, yeah?
Still lost in thoughts, my phone suddenly starts ringing and I quickly answer it when I see that it's from Rhea.
"Hey, brother," Her sweet voice sounds through the phone, and I smile as I lay on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. I wouldn't have taken this bold step if not for Rhea that made me realize that I really want Lilian. She told me to go for her, and when I told her that I wanted to come here, she motivated me and gave me every reason to do this.
'Make your move now before someone else snatches her away from you' I was always scared anytime she mentioned something like that, and at some point, I would imagine how life would be to get married to Lilian and have her all go myself, but then, I'm still scared. What if she rejects me? What if she thinks about the past and feels like I'm not good for her? Those are the questions I have been asking myself all this while and nothing seems to be working out.
"Are you there, Ren?" Her voice jolts me back to reality, and that is when I realized that she has been talking to me.
"Did you say something?" I ask her, trying not to stutter.
"Yeah. I asked how is Lilian? Is she fine? Is her dad getting better?" Now that she mentioned Lilian, her image pops into my head, and I feel my heart flutter. She has grown beautiful and lost a few pounds. She is almost slim, and she looks beautiful even with the amount of weight she has lost. Unlike some people that would have saggy skin after weight loss, hers didn't seem like that.
"Yeah, she's fine. I've seen her," I reply to her, and I hear her squeak excitedly.
"For real? Have you confessed to her yet? What did she say? Will she agree to date you or marry you rather?" She asks curiously, and I sigh.
"I just got here, Rhea. I haven't hung out with her get, but I'm planning to do that tonight. I will tell her tonight," I reply to her, and she sighs briefly.
"Rhea... What if she rejects me? What if she eventually says that we can't work? What if she doesn't like me? What if..."
"Enough of the what if. Everything will be fine, so just look at the bright side of it. Just confess to her, and allow fate to take care of the rest, ok? Don't lose hope, baby boy. And don't worry, your little sister is here, rooting for you, and praying for you that she accepts you, ok?" She assures me, and I nod my head as if she can see me.
"Alright..."
"Also, don't be nervous when you're talking to her, show your sincerity, and give her every reason to accept you. First, apologize for what you have done to her in the past, and after then, you can confess. Do you need tips on what to say?" She asks as if I'm a child, and I sigh.
"No, thank you," I reply to her as I roll my eyes.
"Alright baby boy. Keep me updated later," She utters before the call finally ends, and I sigh briefly.
"Try not to get nervous," I repeat what she said, but sigh afterward. I wish it would be easy as she said, but it's not.
Sitting up on the bed, I check through my phone and order the cloth she would wear for the date, sending it to the hospital address afterward.
It was finally evening, and as the time approaches for the date, I can't help but get nervous.
My phone suddenly beeps, and I unlock it with a message popping on the screen.
'I got the dress you sent. You shouldn't have bothered to do that. Anyway, thanks a lot' I smile lace up my lips after I read the message.
How time flies, it's finally time for the date, and I am more nervous now. After I leave the hotel room, I drive to the hospital, and she was already waiting for me at the gate by the time I arrived, since I called her earlier that I was on my way.
"Hi," She greets me as she hops inside the car. Although I didn't have the chance to picture what her dress looks like, I know it's a red long gown that stops on her ankle. It's sleeveless, but she has a jacket on to cover her body. She has little or no makeup on her face, and the red lipgloss on her lips compliments her beauty. I have always known she was beautiful, but just that she never had the chance to take care of herself, or maybe she felt there was no reason since she was bullied.
The drive to the restaurant where I already booked a table for two began. How time flies, just over a year ago, I met this girl I never thought I would one day fall madly in love with her, but here we are today.
We arrive at the restaurant minutes later, and I quickly open the door for her. Now that I finally get to see how her dress looks on her, she is curvy and a bit slim, she has a pair of red heels on her feet, her thick black hair is falling freely down her shoulders, and damn! She's hot.
"Thank you," She mutters before we walk side by side into the restaurant, and wow! They understood the assignment. The table I booked was already filled with drinks, fruits, and food, with a big flower on top of it. It's colored red, and damn! It looks pretty.
Minutes later, we started eating. When we are done, I sigh nervously since it's time to confess to her.
"I have something to tell you..." We utter at the same time, and I raise my eyebrows.
"Sorry about that, you go first," She nods her head for me to proceed, but women first in everything.
"No, you go first," I reply to her, and she nods her head. Silence creeps into the atmosphere as I watch her fondle with her fingers, and I can't but wonder what she wants to say to me.
"Thank you for everything, Ren... I really appreciate all you have done for me in these few months..." She pauses and scoffs as she smiles.
"I never imagined things would turn out this way... I thought my dad would die, but I owe you the appreciation that you managed to help me out... Life has been rough, facing many challenges, walking through the rough path, and still pulling through, regardless. Maybe we wouldn't have met if I wasn't given to you as collateral..." I watch as a drop of tears slid down her cheek.
"And I'm glad we met, Lilian," I speak up before she can continue, and she raises her gaze to look at me.
"I don't know how to say this to you... I don't have the right to sit in front of you after everything I have done to you... It's crazy, but I was glad that at least, I had a chance to make it up to you, even though it won't remove the scar from your heart. I'm sorry about everything, Lilian. Will you find a place in your heart to forgive me?" I ask her, but she only stares back at me with shock on her face.
"I'm not..."
"I know it's hard to let go of the past... I know it's hard to forget all of the things I said to you in the past. Sorry for the way I treated you, but will you give me the chance to be with you and continue to make up for my mistake for as long as I breathe?" I didn't want to rush this, but I feel myself saying them because I can't wait anymore.
"Huh?" She blinks her eyes at me rapidly.
"I love you, Lilian," I further say, and her mouth drops open as she stares at me...
